Wide cracks in walls and window reveal, cause unknown
What I have:
- One diagonal crack across a wall, running up to the window. About 5 to 10mm
wide at the top. Plaster is loose and the backing is visible.
- The same crack runs through the window board and into the reveal below it.
- One vertical crack in an internal corner. It was filled before and has
opened again.
- Cracks along the wall and ceiling joint and along the coving.
- Skirting boards have pulled away from the wall and floor, leaving open gaps.
- Loose plaster around the Virgin Media box in the corner.
The floor may also have dropped in this area. I have not measured it.
What I want from you:
First, look at it and tell me the cause. Check the level in that corner and
check the outside brickwork for matching cracks. Tell me straight if you think
this is movement or subsidence, or just old failed plaster. The corner crack
has already failed once after filling, so I do not want it filled again
without knowing why.
Then, if it is only plaster, quote for:
- Cutting out and raking the cracks, reinforced where needed, not just filled
- Plastering and skimming flush with the existing wall, ready for paint
- Repairing the window reveal and window board
- Refixing the skirting and filling the gaps
- Repairing the plaster at the media box, box and cables left working
- Dust protection and a clean up each day
Please price the inspection and the repair separately.
Photos and videos of every area are attached. Tell me your trade and your
insurance when you get in touch.

On-Site Repair of Scratches on Wooden Dining Table
We need an on-site repair of scratches on a wooden dining table at a customer's property in Ely.
The table has a 140 cm diameter round wooden tabletop with a dark, low-sheen lacquered finish. There are several visible scratches/grooves in the surface.
We are looking for a localised repair with colour and finish matching, ideally without stripping, sanding or refinishing the entire tabletop.
The repair must be carried out on-site at the customer's property. Please only accept the task if you have experience with wood furniture restoration, scratch repair and finish/colour matching.
Photos of the damage are available and can be provided before the appointment.
Please bring all necessary tools and materials.

On-Site Wooden Dining Table Scratch & Chip Repair
The table has several scratches/grooves on the tabletop and also a small but noticeable chip/gouge on the wooden edge, as shown in the photos.
We are looking for an experienced furniture restorer who can repair the damaged wood, fill and reshape the chipped area where necessary, and colour-match and blend the finish with the surrounding wood.
The repair must be completed on-site at the customer's property. We would strongly prefer a localised repair rather than stripping or refinishing the entire table.
Please only contact us if you have experience with wood furniture restoration, chip/gouge repairs and colour/finish matching.
All necessary tools and materials should be provided by the tradesperson.
