I hired them to fix a roof leak, and John Wilson initially seemed professional, even coming out to inspect the property and agreeing to take the job. He requested a £350 deposit, which I proactively paid to cover the cost of materials. However, on the agreed day, John Wilson never turned up, and when I tried to contact him, I found that he had blocked my number. Despite multiple attempts to reach him, he has refused to refund my deposit. This has left me out of pocket by £350 and with a roof that still needs repair. It’s incredibly frustrating and disappointing that a platform like MyBuilder does not have a proper protocol to prevent or address scams like this. I trusted their platform to find reputable tradespeople, but it seems there are no safeguards to protect customers. I urge others to avoid Jim’s Landscape and be extremely cautious when hiring tradespeople through MyBuilder. Always verify credentials and be wary of paying deposits upfront.
