Bricklaying- 14 May 2025
We were looking to replace the iron railings at the back of our house with a brick wall. We had a couple of quotes but Liam seemed very professional when he came around to have a look and his quote was very reasonable. He managed to get the job booked in pretty quick which was nice too. We were really impressed by the quality of the work by Liam and Henry but also they were really friendly and polite too. They removed the iron railings, cleared the area before levelling out a slight slope on the existing wall. They were flexible with a slight change in plans but also used their experience to make recommendations and solve any issues that came up. They worked flat out when they were here and made sure to come back and tidy up too. We couldn’t be more happy with how the wall has turned out. Lots of the neighbours have been admiring the work too. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for any brickwork that needs doing. Cheers again.

Extensions- 23 Sep 2022
We hired TAS to convert half of our garage to a wc + utility room and to add a 21m2 lean-to to our existing kitchen/diner to create a new open plan living space. This involved 6m RSJs, 4m bifold and 3x Velux and complete relocation of the kitchen. We also had it completed to a plaster finish using TAS choice of plumbers and electricians. TAS also fitted a brand new kitchen with appliances. Considering the time of the quote (Sep 21) and the costs of all build materials going up in the UK at the start of 2022, TAS stuck to their quotes throughout. TAS were always friendly and very clean and tidy during the build. I would recommend them to everyone.

Bricklaying- 6 Sep 2026
He was available to assess the job and give a quote in the evening and he arrived on time on the next Saturday morning to do the work, which was completed quickly and expertly. He cleaned up his workspace and left the spare materials (bricks etc.) for me to store for reuse, unlike some workmen who take the spare materials for their own use. The quote stated was the price paid too. Will use again for future building and bricklaying projects.

PBS undertook quite extensive work on my house which included a large single storey kitchen/diner extension and a two storey side extension. The works also incorporated a new lounge, new master bedroom and two new wetrooms. The works were completed to the agreed budget and I am delighted with the quality and workmanship - the individual trades (brickwork/painting/tiling/joinery etc) were all to a high standard (remarked upon by my visitors). In addition the working relationship throughout the project was excellent. No hesitation in recommending them.

What to ask a York extension builder before hiring?

Before hiring an extension builder in York or extension building company in York, ask a few key questions to make sure you’re choosing the right professional for your home extension project.

What qualifications and experience do you have as an extension builder in York?

An extension builder in York should have a strong track record with similar projects and relevant building qualifications or trade memberships, such as the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) or TrustMark.

Will my home extension meet all building regulations and planning requirements?

Your York extension builder should ensure the project complies with Building Regulations and, where necessary, handle or assist with planning permissions. Ask how they manage building control inspections and what documentation you’ll receive once the project is complete.

What experience do you have with similar extensions in York?

Ask to see examples of their previous work, or view examples of their work on MyBuilder. Ideally projects similar to yours in scale and design. This helps you assess the York extension builder’s ability to deliver a result that meets your expectations.

How long will the extension take to complete?

Extension project timelines can vary depending on size, complexity, and weather. A typical single-storey extension might take around 8 - 12 weeks. Request a detailed schedule so you know what to expect and when key milestones will be reached.

Do you offer a guarantee for your work? Most York extension builders offer a guarantee or warranty on their work, often between 1 and 10 years depending on the project and materials used. This gives you assurance that any issues will be resolved after completion.

If you still have questions about the professional you are looking to hire, we have a full detailed guide on hiring the right builder here.
