  • I started work in 1976 as an apprentice carpenter. I did three years apprenticeship one day a week and worked with a tradesman for the rest of the week, plus I did a further two years of advanced craft. In 1982, I went self employed which I have done to this day. As you can imagine, I have worked on a lot of different things - general carpentry, house maintenance, house modernizing, new build, office refurbishment and lots of general things. I also specialized in kitchen fitting and bathroom fitting which took me up to the present day. At the time, I had a top rating on Trustatrader for quality of work and communication with the customer. In September 2023, I had a bad knee injury which required an operation and meant that I virtually gave up my job. Now, I have decided that my next role could be running smaller projects for customers - organizing other trades, liasing with all the people involved, offering my skill and knowledge, while also doing some of the lighter work to keep the job ticking over. I am knowledgeable, fair, communicate well with everyone and have a good eye for detail. If you are overwhelmed with the task of organizing tradesmen / materials and need someone honest to overlook the project, then please call me.

What insurance do you have?

A reputable carpenter or joiner should have public liability insurance to cover any damages or accidents. Always request proof.

Do you provide a guarantee on your work?

Ask if they offer a workmanship guarantee, usually covering any defects or issues for at least 12 months after completion. Some may offer longer warranties, giving you peace of mind that they’ll fix any problems that arise.

Request photos, testimonials, or references to evaluate their craftsmanship. Many carpenters and joiners also showcase past projects on their MyBuilder profiles, making it easy to see their work.

Do you offer custom designs and fittings?
