What Do En Suite Bathroom Fitting Professionals Cost?
When planning your en suite bathroom project, labour costs form one of the most expensive parts.
However, the more experienced the tradesperson, the higher the quality of the work, which means your en suite will function better and last longer. This is why it’s important to pick carefully.
You can expect to involve several types of tradespeople, such as plumbers, electricians, tilers, and general contractors. Plumbers' fees may range from £250 to £500 per day, and electricians often charge around £320 per day.
Here is a quick summary of the tradespeople you may need and their costs:
- Plumbers: £250–£500 per day
- Electricians: £40–£60 per hour or £500–£2,000 total
- Tilers: £200–£350 per day
- General Fitters: £150–£250 per day
- Plasterers: £100–£150 per day
- Design and Planning Services: 8–12% of project cost.

FAQ: Common Questions Readers Ask About En Suite Bathroom Costs
Is the average cost of an en suite bathroom installation different for small vs. large spaces?
Yes, there’s usually a noticeable difference in cost depending on the size of the space. Smaller en suites tend to be cheaper because they use fewer materials and take less time to install. However, working in a tight area might require some clever design solutions, or even custom fittings, which can push the price up. Larger en suites typically cost more because they need more plumbing, tiling, and fixtures overall.
Are there affordable options available for adding an en suite bathroom to my home?
Definitely. You can save money by choosing budget-friendly fixtures, going with ceramic tiles instead of pricier materials like stone, and sticking to a simple layout that doesn’t involve major plumbing work. Shopping around for deals and asking suppliers about discounted bundles or seasonal promotions can also help cut costs.
How do the materials chosen affect the overall cost of an en suite bathroom?
Materials play a big role in the final price. If you’re aiming for premium finishes, like marble tiles or designer taps, you’ll be paying more than if you go for standard options like ceramic tiles or chrome fittings. It’s also worth thinking about durability and maintenance; cheaper materials might save money upfront but need replacing sooner.
What potential challenges might arise during the installation of an en suite bathroom?
Limited space might make layout and fitting more complicated, especially if you’re trying to squeeze everything into a small room. Plumbing and electrics can be tricky too, especially in older properties where you might find outdated systems. And don’t forget about planning permissions or building regs, particularly if you're adding new walls or altering the structure.

Pin on shower fitting fell off

Hi there, the wall mounted shower in my bathroom (we have one above the head, and one much lower down that's attached to the wall) seems to have lost a pin and comes off the wall easily, it's very loose. While we don't use that shower as it was installed at a very low height, it would be great to use it so it doesn't come off the wall. There seems to be a small pin missing that holds it on, should I get someone to come look at this, or is it a simple fix if I can buy an replacement pin?
