Shower wall panels
Anonymous user 12/10/2026 - 12.06 PM
Any tips on the best shower wall panels to get. Been looking at 10mm thickness ones. Prices vary seen some at £60 and then some at £200 but I was wondering if there is anything to be mindful of when choosing and fitting. Thanks

Hi! Based on my experience, I strongly recommend choosing ceramic tiles instead of cheap plastic wall panels.
While tiles might cost more at the beginning, they are far more reliable and will easily last 15+ years without any issues. They are scratch-resistant, much easier to clean, and very low maintenance.
Cheap PVC panels, on the other hand, often flex, can warp from hot water and moisture over time, and leave a hollow space behind them where moisture and black mold can build up—meaning you and your family end up breathing that in.
If you really prefer panels for a faster installation, you should only look at high-end, premium options with a solid core (such as Multipanel or Showerwall), rather than cheap hollow plastics. But overall, tiling is always the most durable and trouble-free choice for a shower area!

I'd say the main thing is not to go purely by thickness or price. Just because a panel is 10mm and costs £200 doesn't necessarily mean it's better than one at £60. It's worth checking what they're made from, as some cheaper ones are hollow PVC, whereas others have a more solid core and feel much sturdier.
I'd also look at the quality of the joints, whether they're fully suitable for shower areas, and what warranty they come with. Brands like Multipanel, Fibo and Showerwall are worth looking at.
Fitting is just as important as the panels themselves, especially sealing around the shower tray, corners and pipework. Make sure you use the correct adhesive, trims and sealant recommended by the manufacturer.
