- Get in touchAWFUL!!! ABSOLUTE COWBOY HAS CAUSED £100'S of pounds worth of damage do not hire!!! I consulted this cretin to remove a wall between the kitchen and dinning room. We agreed the price. I left a key for him as I was at work. I called him at 9.30am to find he hadn't turned up yet. A few hours later he phoned to say there was a problem with the wall and that it looked to be a load bearing wall which would require further investigation. But rather than allowing me time to get a structural surveyor he immediately informed me that if I got a surveyor he would still charge me for the full day of his time at £250 for basically doing nothing. I wasn't happy about this so he decided to drill a pilot hole in the ceiling to check leaving a gaping hole! He removed a island counter and dumped it in the garden although he told me he'd take it to the dump. He also ripped off the door frame and coving. He phoned to say the wall was load bearing so he left job in a total state and demanded payment!

Get in touchAVOID IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE BUILDER - Steve turned up and provided a quote. We proceeded and booked the work in for 1st July which Steve confirmed. We tried contacting Steve (calls, texts & MB msgs) for information in readiness for when the work commended and we were ignored for over three weeks. We still haven't received a response back. We're now in a position where we have to find a new builder and have to reschedule our electrician & plumber as their work has to commence after the building work, which has now cost us money. We would rather be told if Steve no longer wanted the job or had quoted it wrong, but instead we have been ignored which caused us a lot of stress and significant delays to our project. We feel so let down and wouldn't want anybody else to experience this - please consider this review before proceeding with instructing S&J Building Company. Steve was a friendly, reliable, honest and hardworking tradesman. I have been so impressed with his quality and high standard of work I have employed him again in the fitting of a couple of double glazed windows and to fit a French patio door in the house.
