The chimney removal itself was completed satisfactorily, but additional work was agreed and paid for, namely repointing above the arch brickwork to stop an internal leak. The contractor claimed this repointing was done, however the leak continued, indicating the work was ineffective or not completed properly. After the chimney was removed, the ridge end was left unfinished with missing mortar and a visible gap. I asked the contractor to return to rectify the missing ridge mortar and the ongoing leak, but he refused. Despite repeatedly pressuring me for payment, he would not return to complete or correct the work. As a result, I had to employ another tradesperson to carry out remedial pointing work, including around the window area. This resolved the leak. Photographs are available showing the condition before chimney removal, after removal, and the missing ridge mortar. The original contractor did not complete the agreed scope of work, and I incurred additional costs due to his refus
