    Leak on roof
Dave was very quick to respond and fixed the problem fast. His price was very reasonable and they cleaned up well when they had finished. He was very friendly and helpful and I was pleased that we found him after having some bad experiences with other local builders recently. Dave is very experienced and can sort out a job efficiently without wasting time.

Remove and replace flashing on flat roof
Really pleased with David, his work and overall professionalism. He's a genuine guy and as a first time buyer renovating a house, it's sometimes daunting when you encounter problems. His communication was excellent, his timing was great, everything from quote to the job was done in a timely manner. He was happy to help and answer any questions I had and I did ask quite a lot. Can't praise him enough and I'll be keeping him in mind for any further jobs I need. In this circumstance we needed flashing replaced where it had worn through age and caused a leak. He gave a fair quote, good price and came when he said he would. The job is very neat and he talked me through it. Highly recommend him!

Install en-suite ventilation through ceiling and roof
All started out positive, Mr Gould seemed friendly and trustworthy, sadly did not have a happy ending. Be careful customers as appearances can be deceptive. Met in March and arranged a date for the middle of May for the job to be completed. I then received a text from him at the start of May to say that he was going on holiday and couldn't do the job. He didn't offer to do the job at any other time and gave me a number of a colleague who also let me down. Mr Gould also ignored my calls upon his return from holiday as I wanted to tell him of this and if he could now do the job. I struggled to prepare for this job and was super let down and disappointed and ANNOYED. I got the feeling that bigger jobs were available where he could make more money. My advice, take your business elsewhere...sorry Mr Gould its just wrong to treat customers this way!!!

    Answer from tradesperson:

Hello Mrs Russ. Ill start By saying i carnt believe the bad comment from yourself. We havent even started any work so how is anything unfinished? Or to be completed. We did fit a fan for you over a year ago but that was that. Yes you did say to me you didnt have any money to pay for the rest of work so will have to wait! This is wrong to say im deceptive when ive not done anything wrong to you??? Yes my wife found us a holiday for our honey moon and booked it straight away regardless of my go ahead as it was such a good Deal. Due to this i couldnt start your work! I also couldnt get anyone to fill in for me either as we was over streched with our ongoing work. I did try to sort this out for you and gave you two local Builders numbers who could help out. Unfortuently they didnt want it. As for you telling customers to go elsewhere i dont find this at exceptable and this shows the kind of character you are..... Ill say no more. This is the first time ive let anyone down and all the people ive worked for are happy with my work and timescales to say nasty things when you can clearly see we are full of work so must be doing something right.... Once again ill apolagise and hope all goes well for you in future Kind regards Dave Gould Rakes&ladders

    Leak in dormer flat roof.
Dave responded very quickly and was keen to do the job. I found him very friendly and informative discussing what needed being done. The work was carried out on the agreed day. Dave and his colleagues were friendly and we are very happy with their work. We would be happy to use his services in the future.

Supply and build composite Garden decking and fences.
Never done a review before but in this circumstance David and rakes and ladders deserve one. First off a large job was needed to be done. Quick description-3 levels of composite decking built on concrete block pillars with timber frame on top so the timber didn't touch ground level. feather edge decking around full length of garden also poly carbonate panels between stainless steel posts. David and the boys were great right from the off. The wife and I took 2 weeks off for the work to be done but due to bad weather only some of the days could be used for block work so David and his team worked on weekends (at no extra cost) in order for the job to be completed. David also came up with some of his own ideas which we hadn't even thought of which added to the overall effect of the finished job. Its very rare in this day and age that when a job is complete you part on such good terms after a brilliant job has been done. We now count Dave and the boys as friends, they were great. We have a few more jobs coming up and we would not use anybody else now. The completed job was far more fantastic than we envisaged. Thank you again David of Rakes and Ladders. And also for giving up so many of your weekends. cheers mate.

    Dormer roof replace
Dave from Rakes and Ladders did an excellent job of replacing a flat dormer roof at my property. He was very professional and completed the work despite the difficult weather conditions at the time. We found Dave to be reliable, knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant to deal with. We would recommend Dave to anybody... He will talk you through everything regarding the job in hand, and advise you of the best way forward,.....We were so pleased with the work Dave carried out for us,that we are now in the process of arranging further work with him at our property...Thank you Dave..

Removal of current bathroom and installation of new one
I cannot thank David enough for all of his efforts, expertise and seemless work. David went throught everything with me step by step, keeping me up to date and involved. Never pushy, always working together on ideas. I felt i could really trust him - left him the keys to my house to finish the job. I cannot find a single fault. A bit about the job: - remove disabled bathrrom - replace all doors upstairs - after removing tiles the whole wall behind was so damaged it was falling off, so he fully removed it, plasterboarded it and sealed it. He plastered the ceiling and half of the wall as you go in so that i could put a mirror on it - he even offered to do some mosiac work around it using the mosiac in the rest of the bathroom - he installed a bathtub & exposed shower and an integrated wc&basin unit and vinyl flooring. - swapped the wc & basin around - he retiled everything including very thick mosiac of which he meticulously readjusted as the weight made them move, but he made sure they all remained straight. - he also gave me a really good idea of getting a folding shower screen and glass shelves for the bottom of the bathtub. - replaced the window - replaced the iron piping outside the house with upvc replacements to fit the new units. Some advice? Get him to check your bathroom out before you buy anything - DO NOT BUY YOUR STUFF FROM ‘THE BATHSTORE’ - stuff didnt arrive, and when it did, it was damaged and didnt even supply with enough tiles/flooring
