Hi I’m jay and I’m a qualified carpenter that specialises in general carpentry and roofing. I can fit doors,windows (velux/upvc), can do all aspects of 2nd fix ( doors/skirting/arkitrave/ spindles/ handrail, window boards etc). I can also cut on roofs and do roofing ( felting, battening, tiling). Also can do 1st fix (structural floors, stud walls and linings, flooring , insulation, plasterboarding etc. also can lay slabs/blocks and fit steels if needed. I have worked in the construction industry for over 20 years and specifically in woodworking for over 17 years. After completing a two year City&Guilds qualification in furniture making and installation I have worked for joinery and building companies covering all aspects of woodworking, both as an employee and on a self-employed basis. I have pretty much done everything from cutting in the roof carcass to fitting the floors and skirting, along with everything in between. I particularly enjoy 2nd fix work as that requires the most detailed work and is satisfying, but I am equally at home doing 1st fix work. I have been fortunate enough to work on some prestige projects, especially when I worked for a local building firm in the role of head carpenter and site supervisor. During that time I was able to train up an apprentice and pass on the knowledge and skills I have gained over the years. I not only take great pride in the work I do but also in providing a friendly, polite and efficient.
