Windows & Doors (uPVC & Metal)- 13 Feb 2023
My experience with RES has unfortunately not been as positive as I expected. Richard appears to be very knowledgeable, and nothing is too much trouble and he can find ways to complete any building work you need doing. Unfortunately the project did not go as smoothly as expected firstly the communication regarding start dates was very poor and it seemed as if Richard was struggling to find tradesmen to complete the work. Once the project started work was completed in a sub optimal order, namely rendering the property prior to all the dirty jobs creating mess and large quantities of dust which of course impacts the finish of the render. Richard did not order skips in a timely manner causing excess piles of waste to mount up on my front lawn. Richard would then state that he would charge me extra to remove this waste. Richard left my house without power to the upstairs lights and left light switches wired in the incorrect locations. Richard tried to charge me extra to correct snagging issues. Richard would also add numerous extra’s to the bill without notification or approval, Richard added several thousand pounds to my bill in extras that should have been included in the initial quotations. Richard did not like me querying these extras and proceeded to harass me and arrive at my vacated property uninvited on a Friday night to have a “professional conversation” and the police were required to attend to move him on. He then decided that on Christmas morning he would sue me.

What to ask a door fitter in Buxton before hiring?

Hiring a door fitter is an important decision, and asking the right questions can help ensure the job is done correctly.

Here are some key questions to ask a door fitter in Buxton:

Are you fully qualified and insured?

It’s best to choose a door fitter in Buxton who has proper qualifications and insurance to handle the installation safely. Look for certifications like FENSA and confirm that the fitter carries public liability insurance to cover any potential damage to your property.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

A local Buxton door fitter should offer a warranty for both the door and the installation. This ensures that any issues with the door or fitting will be addressed without additional cost for a specified period, typically 1–2 years for installation.

Do you need to conduct a survey before installation?

Buxton door fitters may conduct a pre-installation survey to ensure the door fits properly. This involves taking measurements and assessing the condition of the door frame to avoid issues during the fitting process.

What is the estimated timeline for installation?

The Buxton fitter should provide a clear timeline for how long the installation will take. A typical installation can take anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on the complexity of the job and the number of doors being fitted.
