Review left on 12 Dec 2019Rating: 1 out of 5Front door to changed(Updated on 7 Jan 2020)When I first contacted Darren in regards to my door he came and measured the door. Darren has told me he would give me a written quote in a couple of days. However, I had to chase him for the quote which I found not professional. I also asked him to change a Front bay window which needed urgent attention. He asked me to pay more than 50% upfront which I did not do. Once ordered it took about 2 weeks to arrive. He came and installed the a front bay window within a day which was fine BUT his work was atrocious. The window has been fitted not level, the finishing ( painting ) was horrible (running stains), newly front decorating was ruined which cost me another money to right. The plastic around the window weren’t cut to 45 and have left a big gap. Whoever gave him a bad review in the past is damn right. Stay away from him and do not be fooled. He also had a company in the past which was shut down perhaps due to several reasons. I am a builder myself and know how to deliver high end standards but everything Darren did was poor workmanship. He also tried to discuss the matter in front of the customer which I found very rude. He also has contacted 4 times my customer and asked for money as he is worried he won’t get paid. He supposed to do a second job but he never turned up and has left me with an unfitted window which I had to pick up 40miles one way. He is a rude, unprofessional, disrespectful cowboy builder who does not take any pride in his work. STAY AWAY - ATROCIOUS WORK!!Answer from tradesperson:
This man talks rubbish, he posted a job for his front door to be repaired, when I visited his property he lived in a rather untidy road and there was no real problem with his door. I found out that he was a tenant not a owner and this job was a waste of time so I didn't send a quotation. I received a message from the customer saying that he would leave me a bad review if I did not send a quote so I did send a quote not wanting the job anyway. A couple of days later he contacted me with another job for a bay window I spoke to his customer arranged a time to visit and measured up. I explained that i need a 50% deposit for any order and then full payment on completion and the lead time would be 2 weeks from order date to installation. At this point all was fine 5 days on he contacted me with another job. Great I thought I visited the 2nd property measured up told him the cost and he asked me to order the 2nd window and agreed to pay the deposit that evening. I ordered the window and paid for it that day expecting the deposit to be paid that night. NO MONEY WAS PAID FOR OVER A WEEK. I was now out of pocket for this man on 2 jobs with only promises to go on and NO SIGN OF PAYMENT for the 2nd job. By now the 1st job windows was ready for installation still NO PAYMENT for the 2nd window that was ordered. We fitted the windows and finished in the dark as the job was bigger than expected. Yes there may of been a few issues nothing serious maybe some over paint. PAY YOUR BILL RONNY

Review left on 8 Dec 2019Rating: 1 out of 5Provide and install new wooden front door(Updated on 6 Jan 2020)I will agree absolutely with the other negative response from a previous review below! Although good-natured at first, when questioning the work, Darren became defensive and had many reasons for the ill-fitting door. Once he had gone, we found many defects. We asked him to come and rectify these and he came when my daughter was alone. He told her he would do the work later in the week but wanted full payment now. I spoke to Darren on the phone and explained the deal was 50% at the start and the rest when completed. He put the phone down on me. He then started shouting and swearing obscenities at my daughter demanding the payment. When she refused he took her front door from the frame and put it in his van. Darren came back shouting and swearing and threatening. She was left with no alternative but to pay. He brought the door back and reinstated it and drove off. My daughter has MS and bought this flat because if/when the condition worsens she can use a wheelchair to enter easily. She had a sturdy door fitted for security as stress must be avoided to stop relapses occurring. Darren Duke has destroyed all the hard work on this count by his aggressive and menacing actions; she was terrified. The door still does not fit properly. I do not think that Darren has the capacity to make the job right so I will put right all the defects. £950 not well spent!! Darren has bad anger issues and I would recommend you avoid this person at all costs.....especially if you are female!Answer from tradesperson:
Ok this mans description is clearly not what happened. Firstly this job is located in Streatham south London the father lives in the countryside near Southampton somewhere. This fact is important, the job was booking in for a Thursday and due to weather was not completed until the following day Friday this was a must finish job as the customer was LEAVING THE COUNTRY on MONDAY morning for AUSTRALIA for 6 MONTHS. The father was there on the Friday to sign the job off when we finished and was happy with the work and said that we would be paid that night. When the daughter came home later that night she was not happy with the key hole escutcheons she didn't want the expensive ones that we fitted but the cheap ones that came with the lock kit. I contacted her the next morning and arranged to revisit her that afternoon as I knew that she was leaving the country on MONDAY MORNING for AUSTRALIA. We changed 1 of the 2 escutcheons and agreed to pop back the following Thursday to fit the final escutcheon when the father would be there. When I asked for payment I was told NO not until the job was finished by the father. He lives somewhere near Southampton she is going to AUSTRALIA the next day for 6 Months. I asked 4 times and was told no 4 times. So I started to take my goods back. I was not rude didn't shout or sware. I just started to take my goods back to protect myself from not being paid. She would of had her old door reinstalled and her deposit refunded.

Review left on 10 Nov 2019Rating: 3 out of 5Bathroom window and pigeon spikes on sill neededThe quality of the work was fair overall, but his customer service and communication let him down. Once i had paid him the deposit he said he would contact me but in the end i had to chase him to book in when the job would be completed. We agreed on a date and time and i booked the time off work. He didn't show at the time or notify us where he was until i rang him. Quite a few hours later he showed up and started the work but couldn't complete the job as it was getting late and the sealant had to cure so he had to come back 2 days later to finish the job which he did. I wish him and chris best of luck for the future.Review from sam15038, Stockwell, London sam15038, Stockwell, London

Review left on 5 Nov 2019Rating: 5 out of 5New windowsDarren was quick to respond to my offer of work. I needed 3 windows replaced, including one which (to me) looked difficult to access. Darren came the day after the publication of my add, gave a great sales pitch and we agreed on a price and a date. I paid half as a deposit. A week and a half later, Darren was over with excellent quality windows which he and his co worker Chris fitted very well. They both work really hard, are on time, cleaned the place at the end and did an excellent job overall. One of the windows was frosted on the wrong panel, so we agreed to fit it in and Darren came back 2 weeks after with a replacement. He also made good were the sealant had shrunk when drying, which can happen. He also replaced and fitted a new beading to the side of one window, made good of everything again with sealant and white paint. Nothing is a problem for Darren who remains friendly, approachable and hard working. Darren also always picks up the phone and replies to text messages which is great. I'm v pleased with the result. Highly recommended.
