Review left on 18 Oct 2019Rating: 3 out of 5Retile around shower and bath(Updated on 24 Oct 2019)Jacques did the work to a high standard and did some extras to make sure that the tiles were lined up and sealed properly, as he found a few issues when he stripped it down. Also all on time and to cost, including getting the tiles. However, when I couldn't get over to the flat the evening that he finished as I'd said, and so messaged and said I'd do so and pay tomorrow instead of that evening, he reacted very aggressively. I missed his call back as I was putting my child to bed, and he called me 4 times in an hour and left an voicemail saying he would 'take action' (which as he still had the keys to the flat felt threatening). When I called him back, he didn't let me speak to say that I would be happy to pay that evening if it was such a problem, instead he said I was ignoring him because I hadn't called back for just over an hour and that he'd be taking me to court. When I managed to explain and he continued to blame to for not answering my phone. I paid him straight away that evening but that night I also had a missed call from him at 1am. It left me feeling shaken and was a very unpleasant and unnecessary end to an otherwise well done job. I understand that you need to ensure clients pay on time but his way of dealing with it was no way in proportion to the situation.Answer from tradesperson:
This client fails to mention the following: The job finished around 2pm and she was sent detailed pictures of work.She then arranged not to pay immediately, but to come look at it after 5pm and then pay.I received a text message from her around 6:30pm stating that she could not make it to the flat and would pay the next day after visiting.As this was in contradiction to all arrangements, I phoned her immediately.She did not answer and I waited another 15mins before calling again.Once more she did not answer.I then phoned her husband's number with no reply.After another 30 mins I phoned her again with no reply.I then phoned a fourth time stating that if I do not hear from her I would be forced to take further action to recover the money she owes.Within minutes she phoned back being very affronted.As she mentions, I bought all materials and did the job to a high spec.I even helped her to get parking permits for her premises( she wanted me to park a block away on free parking and then carry all to her house) The least I expect is to be paid on time, and if not, to have advance notice of that. A service has been delivered to a very high standard and with extras included. Material cost and convenience came at my cost.Why should I be chasing payment? In regards to a phone call at 1am, I find it hard to believe as I am usually in bed by 11pm to be ready for next days work.I furthermore also have card payments available now for on the spot settlement, to avoid these situations.
