Dave is a very pleasant guy and he is an excellent salesman. When it comes to damp issues he is very experienced and knows what he is doing. He quoted me £2850 to get some work done, to resolve damp issues in my basement flat. I don't know the breakdown of labour and materials, however the job took 2 men, 3 (6-7 hour) days to complete. The quote is for 'the job' and it doesn't matter how long or short the time spent is. When I returned to my flat after 3 days away I thought the majority of the work on the walls was good, with smooth plaster..... however there is a lot of finishing work to be done which I wasn't expecting. I have a lot of sanding and 'one fill' filling to do to get everything smooth, ready to paint. When I asked Dave about this he said that it is quite normal for this level of 'decorating' to be necessary after such work. There was also a ceiling in one of the bedrooms that he said he would address as this had cracked paint due to damp. This was never addressed, and when I asked, Dave said it just needs to be sandpapered and painted again. The workmen also put a large mirror back up on one of the walls after the work. The mirror was placed off centre and on a slant. I will need to take the mirror down again, cover up the bracket screw holes and put the mirror back up. When I asked Dave about this he said that they didn't need to put the mirror back up, they just did it as a favour. There was never any attempt by Dave to apologise or address my concerns.
