Hi, I have been working in the building trade for 27 years now. I was registered with NHBC from 2001 until 2018, with no issues. I decided to change to Build Zone for property warranties after that. I won a 4 year tender for Dorset County Council doing their general maintenance jobs. I’ve done many new build properties and extensions, barn conversions etc over the years. Four years ago I went into partnership with a close friend. Since then we have built 3 new builds, conversions and completed numerous small jobs. We have a large portfolio of work we have carried out and we also do maintenance of properties. Between the two of us, we can do most things in the building trade and we have trusted contractors that we use.

Toby fitted a new stone front door step for me. Communication before the job was great, and he turned up when he said he would and got the work done promptly. I discovered a problem after I'd settled up, but Toby was really good about coming back to sort it out. I'm really happy with the end result, it looks great.

Job started well and managed to get base and blockwork done. Roof was put on and all seemed good until it rained and the joint started leaking Builder eventually came back to carry out repair but next time it rained it was worse that before Tried several times to contact builder, via text messages and e-mails and even phone calls. Got no response from texts or e-mails and phone calls were blocked Had to get another roofer in to try and fix the problem

We were happy before it rained and we thoroughly checked their work. They left mess, razor sharp edges on the glass, and glass overhanging neighbours land a little bit. We asked them to return to remedy this which they said they would do this coming Tuesday. Since then we have also noticed that they have cut our glass too short, cut the new hardwood at too steep an angle which was bodged in with wood filler, and now it's rained this new roof has massively leaked. In places where the glass is cut too short and even along the length of one of the new wooden beams; must be missing a bit of silicone. It is now Saturday and we have called them 2 days ago on Thursday, yesterday Friday we called and texted, and today again we both texted and one of us called them, to check if they are still coming on Tuesday or not. 3 days is not unreasonable to return a call or text just to confirm either way. More rain is due between now and then, concerned about lack of communication and quality of work.
