Hi, I’m a Master Builder with over 25 year’s experience. As a company, we do all aspects of Groundwork, new builds, extensions(domestic and commercial). Hard landscaping. Block paved driveways. Barn conversions and much much more.
Disorganised and unreliable beyond belief. Employed Gary to project manage and build a large but uncomplicated garage build. Gary started in April 2021 and should have comfortably finished around August/September 2021. Come September roof trussed hadn’t even gone up. This was due to Gary’s lack of project management and control of the build. Simple things that most competent builders would do e.g. order and arrange scaffolding, steels, roof trusses, and lifting equipment in advance failed to happen. At the same time Gary disappeared for weeks so delay after delay - this isn’t what I expected from an FMB member - and for these reasons Gary was dismissed in October. I’ve since engaged my own team to finish the build on time, on budget and to the standard expected. You can see how much work Gary has accepted on Mybuilder which is all well and good if you have the project management skills and resources – but sadly Gary doesn’t. Trust me, I hate giving negative feedback and other trades I’ve found and used via MyBuilder have received first class feedback and recommendations. These websites are designed for customers to be open and honest about their experiences and no doubt my feedback may resonate with Gary’s other customers and sub contractors. We are delighted with the fantastic single storey extension that Rob and his team have built for us, creating a wonderful kitchen/diner/lounge and utility. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their dedication to providing a home we wanted (not what was easier for them) was excellent. They were punctual, competent, polite, hard working, tidy and fun to have around. They provided good ideas to help us through any difficulties we had in making decisions on areas we hadn't thought about when planning the extension. Lou was easy to work with, minimised disruption during the building works and discussed any aspects which needed changing or were not fully detailed on the architects plans. From the first visit when they came to do a site overview to produce the quote they had warned me that there could be some unknowns once we demolish the existing lean-to as there were no registry or plans for how the sewage/water pipes went under the house. Other than the groundwork adaptations which incurred a bit of a cost increase Rowan's quote was adhered to to the penny, in fact, to get the foundations to not interfere with the pipes, my extension ended up being a couple feet bigger and this was not charged extra by Rowan. Scheduling wise, The demolition and extension rebuild to first fix was scheduled for 5 weeks, but I was so impressed with the work i decided to extend the contract all the way to second fix/finished extension - including decorations, all in all the whole project took about 8 weeks, which considering I kept them on till the decorating was finished is inline with the original schedule. I would like to particularly thank the guys who spent the longest on my site: James and Simon as they were very patient and informative and had to put up with my dog disturbing them the most, but also thank to Graeme, Cossie, Scarfy, Mick, Dave and John for all the work they did, and to Mike and David for coordinating the whole project. i would recommend Rowan to anyone that is looking for a 'one stop firm' to do a whole project without having any stress of managing it yourself, and most of all at a good price!Latest review:Extensions- - George WoodcockExtension Builder in BurfordRating: 5 out of 51 reviewGet in touch
