  • We are an award winning expert damp and mould and radon surveyor and solution provider. We are a PCA member and hold the PCA Certified Surveyor for Dampness in Buildings (CSDB) qualification and the NICEIC Domestic Ventilation certification. ***. We charge for our expert surveys. DO NOT INVITE OR SHORTLIST US IF YOU EXPECT A FREE SURVEY. Only invite or shortlist us if you are happy to pay our survey cost £245+VAT. *** We are experts in understanding the true root cause of damp issues including condensation, black mould and wall surface damage/discolouration and accurately diagnosing structural damp and timber decay. We are also members of Radon Council and UK Radon Association and provide measurement surveys and mitigation solutions in domestic and commercial properties all over the UK including the Channel Islands. It is essential to understand the true root cause of damp issues in order to determine the right permanent treatment. Most surveyors, property managers and trade contractors misdiagnose the root cause and generally assume the problem is caused by some sort of structural defect which leads to treatments that dont work, ££££ wasted and the problem eventually returns. All too often we see treatments like brick repointing/rendering, DPC/wall injections, cleaning /replacing guttering, roof/flashing work, wall insulation linings, replastering that fail because they assume the problem is some sort of defect and have no effect on the real root cause. Furthermore, because the true root cause of damp issues stops for approx 6 months (Mar-Aug) in the UK we often see incorrect treatments that appear to work but only until the weather gets colder again later in the year. We dont do guesswork like this. Our surveys always pinpoint the true root cause which our solutions will permanently address so the problem never returns. Similarly our real-time radon measurement surveys identify concentration ranges that passive sensors cannot and our mitigation solutions are always permanently effective. In 2024 we won the H&V News Awards Building a Safer Future Award for our multiple radon mitigation design and installation work packages with Government of Jersey where we installed over 200 systems and reduced levels that were significantly above the UK Action Levels (Domestic and Commercial) to below the UK Target level. • Damp Proofer in Iver

Hello My name is Brett I'm a UK citizen from birth. I have a City and Guilds in Brickwork from a 3 year course 1 day a week at North East Surrey College of Technology {NESCOT} Where not only did i learn the practical side of bricklaying but i was also taught a lot about the correct methods and important building regulations. When on a City and Guilds course because it was a longer course than the todays NVQ {which can be done in as little as 6 months} and the students are only taught to lay bricks without any of the studies that should go with it specifications etcI I was taught how to build specialist brickwork such as Arches stonework and working with flint and many types of different mortar pointing finishes these skills aren't taught at the colleges anymore. I've worked in construction as a bricklayer for 30 years working on very large scale and smaller scale projects. I do with all the years I've been in the bricklaying trade have a very good understanding of the construction and repairs of buildings and outbuildings. I am and always have been hard working and trust worthy. I can explain to any future clients exactly what the problem is with a part of a house/building which is degrading due to the age of the house/building or problems which have been caused on newer houses/buildings due to bad quality workmanship and not following the correct work methods . As well as doing being competent at new large scale building alterations I'm also competent for doing restoration work and small to large alterations and fixing all types of Repairs in any type of construction material. I can also do handyman jobs small plumbing repair jobs And flat pack furniture assembly. I work on my own and for this reason I am extremely competitive for the price of any job that i do. I won't try to take on any job that I'm not 100% sure that I can do it to the best possible standard for you. Because word of mouth is always the best advertisement for any builder. Thanks for reading. Kind Regards Brett

Average cost of damp proofing in Iver

The average cost for damp proofing in Iver can range anywhere from £1,000 - £5,000, depending on the property size, type, and age, the type of damp you have, the size of the affected area, and any additional work required like replastering or repainting.

To break down the cost further, there are three main types of damp, each with different treatment approaches and costs: Condensation damp treatment cost: £150–£400 per room

Usually caused by poor ventilation or humidity. Treatment may include improving airflow, installing vents, or applying anti-condensation paint.

Penetrating damp treatment options costs: £350–£1,000 per wall

Caused by water ingress through walls, roofs, or gutters. To combat penetrating damp, a professional can fix leaks, apply waterproof coatings, or repair brickwork and pointing.

Rising damp solutions costs: £500–£2,000+ per wall

The most complex and costly to fix, rising damp occurs when moisture travels up through walls from the ground. Treatment often involves installing a damp proof course, replastering, and redecorating.

Questions to ask damp specialists in Iver

You want to be sure that you are hiring a damp proofing contractor in Iver with the right experience, skills, and understanding of your property and job requirements.

Here are some key questions to ask damp proofers that should guide your final choice:

What qualifications do you have?

Check for recognised certifications such as CSRT (Certified Surveyor in Remedial Treatment) or CSSW (Certificate in Structural Waterproofing). Qualifications show the tradesperson has the proper training to diagnose and treat damp effectively.

Are you a member of any professional bodies?

Membership in professional organisations like the Property Care Association (PCA) indicates the Iver damp specialist adheres to industry standards and best practices.

Are you insured, and do you offer a warranty?

Insurance protects you against accidents or damage during the work, while a warranty shows confidence in the longevity of the treatment.

What treatment do you recommend, and why?

Different damp types require different solutions, so ask the damp specialist in Iver to explain their recommended approach and why it’s the best option for your home.

Is the work compliant with building regulations?

For certain treatments, like tanking or major structural repairs, ensure the Iver damp proofing contractor will follow all relevant regulations and can provide certification if needed.

What is included in your quote?

Clarify what the quote encompasses, with typical services including a site survey, a written report, labour, materials, and any replastering or repainting, so there are no surprises later.

How long will the job take to complete?

Ask for a realistic timeline based on the type of damp, the size of the affected area, and any additional work like plastering or painting. This helps you plan around the disruption.

FAQs: Frequently asked questions when looking for local damp specialists in Iver

How long does a damp specialist in Iver take to complete damp treatment?

The timeline of your damp treatment depends entirely on the service you require. Small jobs like treating condensation or installing ventilation can take a day or two, while rising damp treatments may take several days or weeks depending on wall size and replastering requirements.

Will I need to leave my home while a damp proofer in Iver carries out damp treatment?

Many treatments allow you to remain in your home, but for major works such as treating rising damp or tanking, temporary relocation may be recommended to minimise disruption.

How long will a damp proofing treatment carried out by a damp proofer in Iver last?

Professional treatments can last 10–15 years or more, depending on the property and the cause of the damp. Regular maintenance and monitoring will help to extend your damp proofing’s lifespan.

If I hire a damp proofer, can the damp proofing work increase my Iver property value?

Yes, addressing damp improves structural integrity, prevents future damage, and reassures potential buyers, which can positively impact your Iver home’s market value.
