I posted an advert on MyBuilder requesting quotations for laminate and vinyl flooring works throughout a flat. Several people responded, and Dimitrius said he was able to do the job. We were under time pressure, so it was important to have a clear price and timescale agreed before starting. The job was initially for laminate flooring in a small flat, mainly the lounge and hallway. Dimitrius stated that it would take two days and that his labour rate was £200 per day. Because I needed to budget properly, I specifically arranged for him to attend the property beforehand so he could physically inspect the condition of the floors and provide a confirmed price. After viewing the property, he still confirmed the same arrangement: two days at £200 per day. Unfortunately, once work started, the agreed arrangement changed significantly. As the flat was not occupied during the day, Dimitrius worked the hours he chose, and the costs quickly increased beyond what had been agreed. By the first da
