John's was the middle price of three quotes for my job. On meeting he is a pleasant guy, and his quote was very detailed. Unfortunately his attention to detail isn't as good as promised. The new floor feels slanted away from the door towards the window. It's evident he hasn't correctly estimated the level and has tried to raise it, with extra ply, as it reached the door join with the hallway floor. He told us the slate tiles we had chosen made the floor uneven, but though they have a naturally uneven surface, they wouldn't give the downward tilt you feel as you enter the room. He also did some odd jobs, one of which was resticking a tile down in the hall. That tile now sits slightly higher than all the others on one edge, and there is a gap in the grout which is noticeable. He changed a part in the utility sink drainage which was satisfactorily done. We have paid the bill as the work is complete just not quite to standard we expected, but he did spend the allocated time at the property working.
