Joinery & Cabinet Making- 11 Dec 2022
Zachary and Barry are TOP guys. The very top. From start to finish, they helped so much; listened to what I wanted, gave a competitive quote and timeline, and followed up with a proper measuring session and finally a detailed drawing with dimensions, materials and a visual, before starting work. The main part of the shelving was made in their workshop, so disruption and noise in my house was minimal, despite it being a fairly big unit. Even so, it took a good few hours to fit, caulk and finish, and their attention to detail was superb. It looks beautiful, and made for the space, which was exactly what I'd hoped for. If you're looking for bespoke cabinetry with high level of finish and precision -- these are your guys. Don't let the lack of reviews put you off; I had similar reservations, but they are new to My Builder. Zach and Barry showed me photos of other projects and even invited me to visit their workshops; everything is above board! I would HIGHLY recommend these talented and tidy craftsmen.

Really happy we chose Glazify Ltd to replace all the windows in our home, along with our front and back doors. We’re really pleased with how everything has turned out and the difference it’s made to the house. Ashok, the owner, was great to deal with from the beginning. He’s very professional, knowledgeable and you can tell he genuinely knows his stuff. He took the time to explain everything and made the whole process easy for us. Would happily recommend Ashok and the Glazify team to anyone looking to get their windows or doors.

Windows & Doors (uPVC & Metal)- 28 Jan 2026
Very unhappy with how things went with Angle Construction overall. Poor comms during the transaction was the first red flag - no communication for 2 days the moment money was sent, however afterwards received an apologetic call - parts ordered and arrived in due course. Andrei turned up, and got to work on removing the old gate, but then started shaving down the post without saying anything -we were told after that the posts were not level. Eventually he said the door would need to be cut, which we agreed to. The door and posts were both cut to fit, but massive gap left at the bottom, and only half of the door fittings and no handles were installed! In addition, where the door was cut and the wood shaved made, a lot of mess was left all over the garden furniture and patio floor. Shocked at the lack of care and professionalism. He was clearly agitated and in a rush to leave. We have a working back door, but it looks like a real botched job. Not happy, and I would not recommend.

Painting & Decorating- 24 Feb 2020
Quite literally the worst tradesman I have ever worked within 25 years as a property developer! He came and quoted to paint my house (a good price I must say), little did I know that this meant he would spray everything that he can see, not prepare the surfaces by sanding them down or protects things. This included door handles, hinges, radiators, alarms sensors, tiles and my own furniture and cooking utensils. First time I confronted him about this he said that we would clean everything, and we agreed to carry own. However, it became apparent that we was doing the same as previously discussed. have paid hi 66% of what was agreed, I quickly realised that the damaged he has caused was going to cost me far more and I told him to leave. The next day he turned up at my house with his wife demanding the balance which I refused to give him, they were both shouting outside my house, threatening to call the police. I eventually agreed to pay the 50% of what was left, just so that they would leave. However, even once he had confirmed writing his acceptance of this, he walks over to me and threatened me one final time, saying that he will take me to court etc, there is god and he will see to me! I advise to stay away from this person, better to pay a little more and work with professionals who don't agree with one thing and do another. He paints using a spray, which means you can not touch anything up and he quite literally paints everything he sees!!

What to ask a window fitter in St Albans before hiring?

Before you commit to a contract with a local St Albans window fitter, be sure to have a more detailed hiring conversation and ask questions like these:

How long have you been working as a window fitter in St Albans, and what qualifications do you hold?

A window fitter in St Albans should be able to outline their years of experience and highlight any industry qualifications, such as FENSA or CERTASS certification, which ensures they adhere to building regulations. These certifications show they are up-to-date with the latest window installation standards and legal requirements.

Do you offer a warranty for the windows and installation?

St Albans window fitters should offer a warranty covering both the products and their installation. Expect at least a 10-year guarantee on the windows themselves and a 1- to 2-year warranty on the fitting. This gives you peace of mind that any issues, such as leaks or defective windows, will be addressed without extra cost.

What type of windows do you specialise in?

It’s important to know if the St Albans window fitter has experience with the type of windows you’re installing, whether that’s uPVC, aluminium, timber, or sash windows. A professional specialising in your desired window type will be better suited to its installation and ensure the windows meet your needs for aesthetics, energy efficiency, and durability.

What is your estimated timeline for installation?

Expect a clear timeline that includes the date of the window installation and how long the process will take. A typical window fitting in St Albans may take anywhere from a day to several days, depending on the number of windows and the complexity of the project. This helps you plan for any disruptions or access requirements to your St Albans home.

FAQ: Common questions about window fitters in St Albans

Do window fitters in St Albans handle the removal of old windows?

Most St Albans window fitters will include the removal and disposal of old windows in their service. However, it's always a good idea to confirm this in advance, as some fitters may charge extra for disposal, particularly if there are a lot of windows to remove.

How should I maintain the windows installed by a local St Albans window fitter?

Maintenance will vary depending on the type of windows you have installed. For uPVC windows, regular cleaning with soapy water and checking seals is recommended. Timber windows require periodic re-treatment with wood preservative. Ask your St Albans window fitter for specific advice on how to care for your windows to ensure longevity.

Do I need planning permission for a window fitter to install new windows?

In most cases, replacing or installing new windows in your St Albans home does not require planning permission. However, if you live in a listed building or a conservation area, you may need approval. A window fitter in St Albans will be aware of local regulations and can advise you on whether planning permission is needed.
