I contacted Ethan Nov18 we wanted our basement converted. He seemed like a trust worthy man that had experience and knowledge, we put our faith in him to do the job! below why this is a negative review; 1. We payed £4000 upfront for him to buy the materials but the materials where purchased personally by the tradesman who told us they did not know Ethan (Ethan told us he had a team of tradesmen within his company) 2. He promised us he would over see the whole job, but he only spent a total of 20 hours at our home in the space of 2 months using excuse after excuse as to why he could not come. (we both lost money from taking time off work to meet him at the house) 3. Ethan finally came to knock down a wall. Once it was down he unbelievably told me " I have knocked the wall down, hope its not a supporting wall, we will just see how the house settles" ! we then had to get a surveyor ourselves to come and check that it was not a supporting wall as Ethan would not answer his phone! luckily it was not. 4. Its a shame we cant put pictures on here of the poor quality of work he has done. In regards to the floor which he "levelled" and "damp proofed" ( floor was wet to touch) and he used insulation that was meant for a shed, the carpet fitters refused to lay over it and we lost our deposit. There is so much more i could say,the work is not done and we have not heard from Ethan regarding rectifying the work after messaging and calling him. He is a liar and should not be trusted!

I have been a joiner for over 35 years and work on shopfitting building works including annexes and lodges and fitting out jd stores all over England and Scotland including specsavers and fitting out show rooms for wren kitchens. I also have done plenty of ground works including drives and paths bases for sheds lodges and summer house drainage and septic tank systems. DO NOT HIRE! He didn’t arrive on the first day and when he did show up really only seemed to make progress while his “mate” joined him and spent a lot of time on his phone. He’s left me with glass with smears all over, putty a toddler could have applied better, rips in the exterior paint where he tried to tidy some of his over painting, paint on the tiles below, and a huge mess in my drive way. I had a single side window as well as a bay, which he stripped the bottom off and then decided his ladder wasn’t long enough so has now left me with exposed wood. I have had to pay extra for scaffolding, which has been up months, and have now bought myself a ladder to finish the job myself, which is what I was trying to avoid as a busy single mother of three. I’ve given him months of opportunity to come back and fix, but he’s fobbed me off and is now ignoring me entirely. Only hire Edward Joyce if you want to be left with a huge mess and sub-standard work.
