I employed GWBS to undertake some renovation work. The building work was done to a reasonable standard. As extra work I decided on underfloor heating my wows began! I had issues with its installation they ignored manufacturers guidance. The floor was laid on an uneven floor but they had fallen out with the subcontractor and wanted me to chase the works to its completion. I had difficulty getting the work finished. So I refused a final invoice, of £450. Over a 3/4 month period I managed to find someone to finish the flooring.They did the best they could it's uneven in places and the heat isn't uniform. I still needed electrical sign off - I was chased for updates. I asked for them to stop harassing me, we agreed to accept the job as finish they would not contact me again. The subcontractor contacted me - the electrical checks were done. Having promised they wouldn't contact me, they did, asking for payment. I responded to the text, yes (mistake) but blocked their calls. A few months later they appeared at my house, I was at work. I contacted them immediately via email. They threatened me with debt collectors if I didn't pay that day. I offered a good will payment they refused I endured a day of emails, claims of letters said they sent, sighting recorded delivery, of out of context text messages. In fear of debt collectors, feeling under duress and stressed I paid them! I am now considering should I take legal action for distress and harassment.

Jay came to price the job after making contact and his communication was clear. We live in a very old house with lots of quirks; he took this into account and saved us a bit of money with the plastering. Plaster was falling off the ceiling and a couple of walls and he inspected the whole room, telling us we were fine to leave two of the walls as they were, as all seemed solid. I imagine he could have told us to have the whole room done, but instead we only had done what was needed. Jay managed to slot us in quickly, completing the work over two half days (allowing the pre-plaster adhesive coat to dry over night), finishing the job on a Saturday morning as a team of two. The price quoted was what we were charged. It's now been about a month since the work was completed, and we're very happy with the results. The room was skimmed nicely and the surface was very smooth. We coated it with Screwfix bare plaster paint before giving it a top coat, and the finish is great. We'll be using him again for future jobs and I have no problems recommending him.

I only had the bathroom done in the end but Dan and his team were excellent from start to finish and completed the bathroom to a high standard in what I think was a very challenging room. They even done some additional work that I requested as it went along. Will definitely recommend and would be more than happy to have them back to work on my kitchen when that work is done.

Steven was fantastic at co-ordinating this tricky and rather unglamorous project - he was very knowledgable about working on listed properties, full of brilliant ideas and solutions and responded well to all the curve-balls that come with renovating an old unloved building. Jon is amazing, clearly highly skilled and his experience shone through, he did such a great job of fitting my kitchen. He was extremely patient with me and my kitchen supplier. He went out of his way to ensure I had what I needed to use my kitchen while we waited on other parts to be delivered. He also laid my laminate floor & perfectly hung 4 doors for me. There are one or two tiny bits pending, but to be fair he's waiting on me to decide when I want my other job done, so I know he will sort them out at the same time. I'd never use any other carpenter again. Jon is simply the best.
