Review from cccchhriiss, Clapham, London Review left on 6 Jul 2016Rating: 5 out of 5(Updated on 28 Feb 2019)Very satisfied. Great service, good, fast work. Friendly, polite guy from Durham (never did catch his name) - he even let me borrow his saw to do some work in my garden while he was doing replacing my gutters! I highly recommend these guys and will use them again myself.Review from Customer of W HARTLEY LIMITED Customer of W HARTLEY LIMITED

Review left on 10 Jun 2016Rating: 1 out of 5The concrete slab of our garage is quite uneven and not level, and has some chipping. I would like to have the front section re-levelled, both for the door to not have a gap at the bottom and to install a weight lifting platform on it.
I needed my garage concrete floor to be leveled and a wooden box section to be repaired. William replied to the job quickly, sent someone to have a look the next day and sent a quote very quickly. I found it quite expensive but was keen on having this done by skilled professionals to ensure a very flat surface which was very important, and they were free to do the job very quickly which was a plus. They did a good job on the boxed section but I'm very disappointed with the floor. It took more than two weeks to fully set ( I was told it would be hard enough to walk on after 2-3 days but it wasn't at all ) and the top layer of the material looks unevenly mixed. And the biggest issue is that it's anything but level, there are dips and bumps of more than 7mm so I'm now left with a problem despite having paid good money.Answer from tradesperson:
Because the floor was so out of level we had to do it in two stages because it was 50mm on the edge down to 0mm in the centre because the customer only wanted half the floor done, because of the thickness in areas it took a while to dry fully and because in the centre in went to 0mm thick the colouring was different over the floor which was getting painted with thick floor paint so the colour was nothing, as for it been up and down this was because in the middle where we had to blend the floor to the old floor that was uneven , the customer never phoned and asked about it been uneven and never complained to me we told him about the colouring and that was fine because it was been painted

Review left on 24 May 2016Rating: 5 out of 5(Updated on 28 Feb 2019)repair/replace felt roof on detached garage
I never leave feedback until a bit of time has passed since the job has been completed to make sure everything is fine, so here we go. Garage roof started to leak so posted the job on My Builder, 3 responses Keith from W Hartley Ltd came round the same day told me the roof felt needed to be replaced and quoted for a GRP fibreglass roof. No waffle knew exactly what had to be done and identified the problem and cause. The next company turned up and failed to quote and the final one just did not turn up, then asked for another try came around, quoted but not happy with explanation as to how the job would be done so W Hartley Ltd got the job. Great communication, Willie was in contact a number of times to keep me updated about start dates due to weather. The whole job was completed in 2 days, on time and looks great, Keith also sorted out a problem with the downpipe at the back of the house as a bonus, thanks again for that. The site was cleared of all debris and left tidy. So marks out of 10 well it has to be a full 10 for professionalism work ethics, quality of the job and tidiness. 6 Months down the line and a very happy customer. Yes I would use W Hartley Ltd again without hesitation and highly recommend their service.Review from jacq13, East Ham, London jacq13, East Ham, London
Review left on 24 May 2016Rating: 1 out of 5New Cladding
I hired William and Keith from W Hartley Ltd Roofing Contractors to replace an old cladding and left it far worse of than originally found. This contractor has done a very poor job below my satisfaction and is adamant that he will not do the job properly not unless he gets more money despite a 10 year guarantee. When the scaffolding came down I noticed the cladding had not been fixed properly. The material used was cheap and retaining air hence the bubbles. We’ve had few conversations and called them back to re-assess the finished work and at that point blamed the error on a frame underneath the membrane as not being straight. William further claims it was not their responsibility to fix the frame as not stated in the quote. Yet this was never highlighted as been an issue when they were doing the job in the first place otherwise we could have agreed on a solution to ensure the cladding was done properly. Surely a competent builder would highlight if there’s an issue that would prevent the job been done properly? The contractor gave me assurance they had done cladding jobs before & listed on checkatrade hence I commissioned him. My experience with this builder has been terrible & not willing to cooperate to fix the issue or take responsibility for the poor job. This has left me with no option but to consider legal proceeding to claim the money lost. I would never recommend him. Don't trust this man and think again when hiring them. A total cowboy builder: stay away from themAnswer from tradesperson:
First off, the customers constant calls about the price saw me reduce it twice for her before we even started. You know the type ,wants the best of everything for as little as possible. We did the job we agreed on using the materials that the customer agreed(didn't want to pay for better shiplap cladding)we fitted the interlocking soffit boards into the starter trims and Screwed them at every joist possible. Told customer that the wooden joist frame work wasn't straight so where the soffit boards are screwed to them it makes the soffits follow the line of the joist. The customer then wanted us to put new joist framework in for free, we said we would do the extra work but it would be more money as this was not mentioned in quotation.
