For this installation, a standard garden tap kit was used from ScrewFix for the job, consistent with typical practices. The flexible hose section within this standard kit is ~1m in length. However, the nearest water access point was located at height (close to the ceiling) ~2.5m away from the desired tap position. In order to manage the specific layout, hose extension of 1.5m with associated connectors and guide clamps had to be installed. Two months following the job completion the client reported leaks on the circuit. As my company offers a two year warranty (labour only), I attended on request to assess the situation. After inspection of the leaks, it became apparent that the kit wasn't designed for sustained pressure. Whilst the root cause of the failure was not attributable to the skills, knowledge or expertise, I completed the job again free of charge to ensure further durability is provided. I had also given specific user instruction to close the service valve upstream / at the top when tap not in use to leave line depressured. The feedback left here, I would assume, as I have not been contacted directly, means that client may have experienced further issues a year after the job was redone. If that were to be the case, it would be due to not following the user instructions with regards to closing service valve at the top. With regards to the costs, we held a sensible discussion and agreed on mutually acceptable solution.
