Review left on 21 Apr 2019Rating: 5 out of 5Chimney cappingNice contact call.Came looked at job and made a number of ways the job could be done.We settled on course of action which was not the most costly. Paul attended did the job, cleaned the area and also cleaned the gutters which was not part of the job. He refused extra money.I am very happy with the work and will use them again.Review from margaret17204, Stockport margaret17204, Stockport
Review left on 17 Apr 2019Rating: 5 out of 5Open fireplace.Paul did a good job. The only negative was that he doesn’t take the rubbish away but does bag it up and leaves it outside. He does tell you this before you book him though. A very affable guy and seems well informed on all aspects of his trade.Review from simon19526, Stockport simon19526, Stockport

Review left on 29 Jan 2019Rating: 1 out of 5Multi-fuel Stove installation(Updated on 17 Sep 2019)Paul initially presented himself as a really nice guy, happy to be of help. The job was to knock out an existing fireplace line it, fit a stone hearth and install a multi-fuel stove. Paul seemed trustworthy so I left him the key and a kind note to help himself to tea etc. When I got home he had already left. The carpet was totally wrecked, the sofa had marks on it and there was tea on the worktop and floor in the kitchen and dirty marks all over the new cupboards. No attempt to be polite and leave it clean. The stone hearth had been put in without using a spirit level, one side was higher than the other and stuck out a little further than the other too. The join down the centre got wider towards the back and the cement in between had been sprayed (very obviously) with black spray paint, he'd used a magazine of mine to mask the edges of the stone. I phoned immediately and explained how disappointed I was. Paul apologised and offered to come to discuss it and to correct the faulty work. Saying he would have it tiled over himself. I stupidly paid him and accepted a reduction for the cost of the hearth which had to be re-done. He didn't come at the time we agreed and later got abusive and rude on the phone. Paul did eventually come to take out the stove so I could get someone else to tile over the messy hearth, he returned when it suited him, to re-fit the hearth. He said he had 2 more to fit "throw 'em in!" was his parting statement. My advice NOT TO USE PAUL NUTTALL !Answer from tradesperson:
sorry you changed your mind the night before you didn’t want the slate that I went all the way to Barnsley for you to say I don’t want that I want the Indian stone which are uneven flags and I fitted without you seing them I’m not going to make that mistake again you rang me once you returned home and said I don’t like that stone I want it out so we talked about ways to sort this out as you didn’t even want to pay for the stove or any of the install so maybe I did react a little surprised as no way I’m paying for your stove and fitting it all for nothing and you didn't pay me until I said I won’t charge you for the hearth I have fitted and supplied and I would have to take the lot out to replace the stone so easiest option was to take the stove out and tile over the existing hearth in what ever tiles you want and for not coming back when it suited you it was half 7 when you rang I was out looking at jobs I don’t work evenings I’m busy looking at jobs so I returned a day later to take stove out for you free of charge after my morning job and I came back when I had a chance to fit your stove after another job I always mention if you could take as much out of the room as possible as it can be one of the muckiest jobs you can do in an old cottage the flue was blocked which I didn’t charge you for so no preparation or care about anything from yourself I even offered carpet clean and come on you were throwing the carpets out and then you got a bad tiler in you should of kept slate
