(Updated on 8 Jun 2021)Left a live cable exposed under the floorboard in the area where he was working. Luckily, when I pulled the cable out I didn't touch it, however when I went to put it back in as I thought it was just a dead cable that had been left, it caught the radiator pipe and gave a bright orange spark and bang and tripped the circuit. This should never have been left like this as it was a fire hazard and luckily the exposed cable hadn't made contact with the timber as it could have easily started a fire. The electrical work he completed was actually signed off as meeting British Standards, but leaving an exposed live cable clearly doesn't meet BS. He and his employee were also not the most professional with foul language whilst my partner was at home listening. One of his employees also took a personal phone call whilst walking round the house, which I don't think is professional. The fact that the live cable was left exposed underneath the floorboard is my reason for not recommending MDE Electrical Services to anyone.
Answer from tradesperson:
I’m a bit unsure why you have put the blame on me for the live cable, when I called round too put it right you even told me you had pulled it out of the joint box yourself whilst working under the floor!! As for walking around your house on the phone, one of my employees literally got a phone call in the bedroom and walked down the stairs and out the front door on the phone. If your offended by that then I don’t think we had a chance from the start!! You where difficult too deal with throughout and hard work getting paid at off at the end, now you are making false accusations. Good look too anyone else who is unfortunate enough too do any work for you.
