Replaster and paint two small areas of ceiling
I wish I didn't have to leave a negative review, but unfortunately Lewis has disappeared without finishing the job we hired him for - he was supposed to replaster our ceiling after a roof leak damaged it, then repaint. His colleague did an excellent job on the plastering, but after we paid him, we were unable to get a simple receipt for the work from him, despite multiple calls, texts and emails over several months. He also did not respond when we asked him to come back and finish the paint job. Very disappointed to have hired him.

    Plastering - skimming three ceilings
Lewis and his colleague did an excellent job plastering three ceilings and returned three days later to paint them. They tidied up, covered all carpets, were cheerful and cooperative and I was very happy with their work.

    Plastering of room corner
The job done was acceptable as It was done promptly at short notice. However the finish that was left is not what I would have expected. There are areas where the wall is not smooth at all and will need further work. The surrounding area was also left in a mess with plaster on the window frame, glass and skirting boards and some staining of the carpet.

    Ceiling repair
Water damage has brought down a lath and plaster ceiling. Additional damaged areas meant that replacement of the ceiling for the whole room (our office) was the only sensible option. Approximately 3m x 4m. Area. Thames Valley Finishing was equal lowest of three prices received. They had people available the next day and said they could do the whole job in one day. The other company said 3 to 5 days work. They sent 5 people with there as well at start Lewis introducing each individual. His son was left in charge. They helped move the large furniture items we had moved smaller items. They carefully took down the central light fitting and a smock detector. The ceiling was stripped away and debris removed from the house without damage and with reasonable care to avoid dust spreading though with this type of work dust will spread via every door joint. They finished about 7 pm having done a basic builders clean. I had a cleaner arranged for the next day. TVF would have provided a fuller clean if asked and a painting service. I had a painter in the house the following week so did not use this service and it has to follow a few days later to allow the plaster to dry. I had not expected any contractor to be able to complete the work in one day and was very pleased with the outcome. Recommended.

    Plastering and painting
Very good workmen but they don't respond when there is a problem afterwards. I paid £6k for this work, not joke money by anyone's standards. Now the cupboard that was fixed about 3 months ago is not straight. Lewis and no response. Also was told I would receive an electric safety certificate and didn't work alone cost £400.00. If you want long term relationships with customers you need to treat them right not run away when there is a problem as this means all the trust is gone and you will not get repeat custom. Would not hire again.

    Answer from tradesperson:

There was no electrical work required from our services; we were asked to change a couple of light fittings which required no wiring as part of the specified work to remedy a flood that had occurred in this property. The client advised the property had a Tenant at the time of the flooding who was moved as a result of the flooding. The client had evidently failed to provide the Electrical Certificate for the property when renting it which is a legal requirement. Unfortunately in our 35 + years of working with owners of rented properties we have found that all too often property owners as Landlords do not familiarise themselves with their legal responsibilities when renting out their properties.

    Skim bedroom ceiling
once bitten never again Most annoying when you have to ask another plasterer to finish the job .
    (Updated on 1 Feb 2020)

    Answer from tradesperson:

The client was advised the specific area did not require plastering as a simple paint job would suffice. This was our honest advice to them. If they chose to instruct another Plasterer contrary to our advice, that was their choice.
