Review left on 3 Oct 2019Rating: 1 out of 5Repair box gutter(Updated on 21 Jan 2020)I declined to leave feedback when the work was completed last year, as there were two things I was unhappy with. Firstly Neil quoted for the work, stripped my roof of tiles and then told me additional work was needed which almost doubled the price. I was left with no choice but to proceed as my roof was stripped of tiles. In my view the supposed additional work could easily have been identified (either as definite costs, or potential additional costs) at initial quote stage-I did not appreciate this approach. Secondly, I asked Neil’s roofer about the design and how far down the tiles would run on our roof slope and was happy with the answer. However upon completion, the tiles did not run to where agreed, leaving a very odd and unagreed look. I received Neil’s view that the design was sound, but no apology or explanation of the miscommunication from Neil’s team or the fact that I was unhappy with the aesthetic. A year later we have a leak. Neil came out to view. I made it clear I was surprised the leak had occurred, as it was within his remit to make the roof watertight. He told me that he would provide me with a plan for repair within the day, however 10 days later we have had nothing and texts and phone calls have been continually ignored. I am now having to engage someone else to correct the work. I’m sure fundamentally Neil is a decent roofer, but overall not a positive experience due to pricing, communication and post-job service.Answer from tradesperson:
I have waited to reply to the feedback as I have since his feeback 5 months ago tried several times to contact in the hope to amicably liaise with Mr Symondson about his actions but to no avail. I can only stoop my head in disgust that the feedback and underhand tactics are frustrating and very sad . I dont require deposit and I don't ask for payment for some time after our jobs are complete . I am not a contrator grabbing at monies at all and do thrive on standards, manners and service . Having run a firm now in excess of 37 years , at times you come across someone who is a little more awkward , upset and unfortunately whom sets out to damage ones reputation. Fact is Mr Simmonds offered cash at a greatly reduced amount for a 2nd stage of works a year later than those original works and I advised that I could not accept the offer .He was upset as he obviously preffered to have me ,the same contractor and utilise my lead welding skills . If that constitutes reason for bad mouthing my lively hood what can I do ? Terribly wrong and just not on , but "My builder "advise is that his comments shall remain on line as feedback true or false. A great shame .

Pointed out some issues that will need some attention in the not to distant, supported with photographs. Plenty of communication once the job was underway regarding progress and things brought to my attention. Job completed on time with good post job clean up (actually done at the end of every day).
