Review left on 25 Sep 2023Rating: 1 out of 5Full storey roof extension(Updated on 3 Oct 2023)After stopping work several times demanding huge sums for additional "unforeseen" work (including £5,000 to prop up a window opening, where his men simply hammered in a piece of timber), we agreed he should leave the site. His was over payed but no money was returned.Answer from tradesperson:
Dear Alex, I’m not sure if you’ve made mistake and this meant to go to another contractor. First off all the job was done 6 years ago or even more. We were contracted to do the structural works only / shell on your development to the very tight budget as it was your investment. At the start it’s worth to mention to all those who will read it, that the whole building was in critical condition and was vacated due to its unsafe state. We helped and have provided our structural engineer to solve all the structural issues and temporary support design as your engineer haven’t done that. During the strip out we have found further unforeseen structural issues. They were observed, notified to all involved parties and remedial works designed again by our engineer following the price for doing additional works. You must recall the few stoppages were caused due to the findings and pending decisions, design and approvals from YOU, engineer and architects appointed by yourself, council and also ground floor flat neighbours. The 6no window lintels replacement was requested by the engineer as they were not sufficient. We never contracted these works and mainly that was due to your budget, decision. To be clear the given price was at cost. Every builder would confirm that. Cutting short you have employed an architects to manage this project for you. We’ve had the on site valuations every 2nd week and were paid for what we’ve done - never extra. This was our agreement.

Ralf spent time with us during the beginning of the project to plan out timescales, price and ideas on finishing. They were hired to build a single storey rear extension in North London including a new kitchen and bathroom fit. I met Ralph on site along with a number of other builders, Ralph was highly knowledgeable and clearly explained what was required with practical solutions. DPS clearly scoped out the timeline and cost for each stage of the build and kept to this. They completed several agreed extras throughout the job. Communication with Ralph and the whole DPS team was first class throughout. Ralph was able to talk through the process in great detail and gave us an in-depth breakdown of the quote to see where exactly the our money was going. They have been brilliant through the whole process and really helpful as we have never had an extension of this size. We got a 6 metre rear extension with a split level. Really well priced and a good bunch of guys. Even helped us to save money on building regulations and a construction engineer. The build was completed on time with very good attention to detail. Ralph stands out from the crowd due to his outstanding communication and availability. His team is hard working and came up with some innovative solutions to problems along the way. Ralph's follow-up post-build involvement has been second to none. I am incredibly happy with the end result and have a beautiful new modern and architectural extension. The whole team were trustworthy, competent and completed the work to a high standard, and they were able to resolve issues as they arose on the project. Ralph is a great representative for his team and combined with them delivered a fantastic kitchen / living space for us. As we we’re new to the building game, Ralph walked us through the process clearly, presenting good ideas on budget and executed them in a timely fashion. On time every day, a big team was put in place that specialised in all the trades. Ralph was on call 24/7 throughout the whole process and his team we’re pleasant to be around. We never had any problems with getting the right quality nor with the money side of it. They finished the build on time with just the snagging remaining to do afterwards. Review left on 10 Dec 2014Rating: 5 out of 5Side return extensionI'd like to start by saying that DPS are a 1st class team. Ralph and co recently completed a side return extension for me. I'm a developer operating in the N11/N12 postcodes and have had to sift through many cowboys but I can finally say I have found my builder. Ralph understood the architectural scheme and structural calcs and was able to compose a method statement which met my budget and timeframe constraints. The job was executed on time and price and a number of unpredicted extras were handles with ease and no fuss. In a few weeks I'm starting a new project in north Finchley and I'm looking forward to getting DPS team onboard. As a landlord DPS have also helped with some maintenance work and upgrades to my portfolio. Strong Recommendation.
