Review left on 7 Jun 2015Rating: 5 out of 5Bath and kitchen cabinetColin come the same day I placed the job to quote me, even it was Sunday. The price was good and he started the next day. The wall was very thin and he managed to find a way to place the cabinet. I am really happy with his work and I will 100% recommend him.Review from Customer of Boswells Customer of Boswells

Colin did an excellent job and we would highly recommend him. We initially asked him to take off some wall paper, restore the walls and paint them. He did a great job - he offered a very competitive price, was very neat and meticulous with doing the job to a high standard. He even left us one of his paintbrushes and paint try to do future touch-up work on other walls. On top of this, he helped us fix up other bits in the flat that the previous workmen hadn't done to a high standard: re-cemented parts of our chimney, fixed cracks in other walls, and did caulking along the stairwell. He even helped some delivery guys who were struggling to get a sofa into our flat when he was here. Colin comes across as very professional, honest, and trustworthy. We recommend him highly and will higher him for any future work.Review from Customer of Boswells Customer of Boswells

I initially hired Colin to strip and paint a bedroom, but he was so helpful & professional that I asked him to stay and fix all the odds and ends that needed sorting throughout the house. This included: - prising up and relaying broken kitchen tiles - re-hanging doors - fixing an external leak - hanging paintings and mirrors - fitting dimmer switches - stripping and re-painting external doors - re-sizing and fixing cupboard doors I have been thrilled with the work Colin has done. Everything has been completed to a high standard and at a very fair cost. Colin has made fixing all the odds and ends around the house easy and there has been no job too big or small. I have other tradesmen come to quote for fixing the kitchen tiles and the external leak and the quotes were much, much higher and their methods complicated. Colin instead found inventive ways to fix the problems and found easy, cheaper solutions. Colin is very friendly, professional and helpful. All the work was completed to a high standard and each additional job was fairly quoted for and receipts for any expenses accounted for. I would recommend him, and have already done so to a few of my friends!Review from chappers_11, Clapham Junction, London chappers_11, Clapham Junction, London
Review left on 17 May 2015Rating: 5 out of 5Repart and protect sash windows(Updated on 3 Apr 2019)Colin did a thorough job on our sash window, repairing the window frame where there was water damage. I appreciated that he was specific about how he would go about the repair (damp block, filler, paint, seal, etc.) and then he had the job done within a day. He was also kind enough to apply seal elsewhere in the bathroom at no extra cost.Review from Customer of Boswells Customer of Boswells

Review left on 27 Mar 2015Rating: 1 out of 5Fit keypad lock and door locks
Avoid Colin Vaughan (Boswells) and his colleague Francis at all costs. You have been warned. Colin kept calling me once shortlisted to give him the job and seemed really charming and helpful. However at the end they didnt finish any of the jobs and even purposely left me in a bind by leaving the toilet / wc unfinished. They are the types of builders who screw people over, the ones you see on tv. They started several jobs for me - fit a keypad lock, repair a wc, replace a chipboard on my ceiling and put in some cabinet locks in my kitchen. They did not finish any of these jobs. In fitting the keypad lock on the door Colin didn't even use the screws provided, he used glue!!! This meant I could not remove the lock again or change it. He left my toilet /wc completely unfinished and I had to get an emergency plumber to do the job which costed me £360. He left the ceiling unfinished and didnt even put in the cabinet locks. I paid Colin for the materials and for half the job and that is what I got, a job badly done and half complete. He insisted that I should pay him for the 1st half even though our agreement was for the payment to be made at completion. He tricked me into believing that he would finish the jobs as he was leaving his tools in my house. He asked me to give him my house keys so that he could finish the work while I was at work the next day but he just took all his tools and left all the jobs unfinished. When I called him he ignored my calls.Answer from tradesperson:
What you have written above is libelous. Job was to fit keypad & locks. You added on fixing the toilet, a key pad, a bath panel, replacing chipboard on ceiling and more. You paid £150 for materials. Materials cost £186. We never agreed on payment on completion. As jobs were added it was pay 1/2 now and 1/2 on completion. We asked for the first half you reneged refusing, saying you wouldn’t pay till end. You were derogatory and racist towards my colleague which is unacceptable. This isn't an environment any tradesman should face. We weren't going to work without payment. However, I am extremely pleased that the emergency plumber actually got paid for the work he did.

Review left on 23 Mar 2015Rating: 3 out of 5Re-make board for bath panel and then re-tile thisColin came round very promptly to look at the job, and was happy to work at the weekend which i really appreciated. He is a really nice guy, very positive and very willing to help. Unfortunately, the job he did was finished to quite a disappointing standard. In fairness to Colin he did realise I was unhappy with his first effort, and did start again for no extra cost. However, although the second effort was much better it did still lack attention to detail. Many of the tiles still do not line up and there are some fairly large holes in the grouting so I will now be patching up some of his work. He is clean, tidy and cheerful and very very reasonably priced - but I'm afraid I would not use him again as the work is still not finished to a high standard.Answer from tradesperson:
i went to see job . the tiles she had was ones i had to clean off cause they had been used .i told lucy that its hard to clean off tiles that have been used . i think i done a good job for lucy and thats unfair what she has said . colin.next time she should get new tiles .and it will look better
