Alan and his team undertook the conversion of a basement and garage to create a new 1 bedroom garden flat. The process went very smoothly, with a detailed and clear quotation, regular updates and communication and finished to the high standard and the specification agreed. We were provided with a fair all inclusive fixed quotation, to include survey, underpinning and ground works which was a major part of the project. I would not hesitate to recommend Alan and I am happy to be contacted for any more detailed feedback – ours was perhaps unusual in that I was absent working abroad for the entire duration but I had complete confidence that the job was being done well and on schedule, through updates, photos and sensible solutions. Following on from the basement, the job sheet was increased to include re rendering and painting ,new balcony's, and various small projects around the property. We are extremely pleased with every aspect of the process and our completed project. Alan provided a clear, detailed quote for a very competitive price. He also worked with us to find alternative options for the stair layout to ensure that we could achieve our desired result. The project started quickly and progressed well, with Alan dealing with all paperwork, building control etc so we did not have to worry about anything. The team were extremely skilled and professional and paid excellent attention to detail, particularly in the finishing and joinery. As a result, the finished result is of fantastic quality. We can't recommend Alan and his team enough.

Alan and his team have turned our bungalow into a perfect family home and it’s exactly how we pictured it when we were planning. From our first meeting Alan knew exactly what we were after and very quickly came back to us with a fixed price quote which was far more reasonable than several quotes I had received from other contractors. He was more than happy to adjust the quote if I thought I could do certain things myself and save money in areas. Although the work ran over by a couple of months (due to terrible weather)I was always informed and kept up to date with progress. Being at home for most of the build I got to know the guys pretty well and all were very polite and would make sure I was happy with what was being done. They cleaned up every day and would always take the time to look at little things I may have noticed etc. The overall finish is great and people coming into the bungalow love the transformation and we do to. It really has made a huge difference and internally we couldn’t be happier. The only one thing I think could have been done a bit better was the reinstating of my brick driveway in areas and the driveway in general has taken a bit of a beating with heavy concrete lorry’s being on it. Overall we are delighted with our new kitchen extension, new entrance to the bungalow and new bathroom. If we ever needed work done in the future I would not hesitate to use Whyte’s again.

Alan and his team have done a very good and professional of completely refurbishing my Bathroom. I now have a more modern and pleasant Shower room.

Alan came on time for the initial visit and discussed what was required well in advance of the work being started. What impressed me was his honestly and common sense which changed our thoughts on what we really wanted or needed and a much smaller project that came out of these discussions resulted in a large saving for us. I would suggest this is very unusual! The finished job was completed on time and on budget and consisted of the full boarding and insulation of the loft, addition of 2 x velux windows, enhanced LED lighting, removal of the huge water tank and connection to mains water, boiler room enhancements, safer access to the loft and all associated plastering and plastering and painting to make good the old dangerous access. Alan himself appeared at the 'pinch points' of the work to supervise and direct his excellent team of professional craftsmen (carpenters, plumbers and electricians) but was always available by phone, text or email. He responded quickly and positively on the very few occasions when we questioned a divergence between us on the interpretation of the contract we had agreed. His team were all very caring and polite, worked hard, and were a delight to have around the house which they left in a very tidy condition. Highly recommended. I have asked him to quote for another project in the Spring.

After receiving five quotes from builders,they did vary in detail and price.The quote from Alan Whyte we felt was the most comprehensive and gave us what we wanted in our loft conversion. After the initial quote and speaking with Alan we tweaked the plans. A revised quote was received quickly, and we agreed on a start date. The quote itself was the most expensive of all the quotes but it did include many items others didn’t such as complete painting and decorating of the project and a decent allowance for the en suite fixtures.Throughout the whole project Alan and his team were brilliant. His team of John, Lewis and Dan are excellent and friendly tradesmen who carried out all the work to a very high standard. Every time I saw them they showed me what they had been working on and explained their next steps which was good. Alan keeps in touch weekly to keep you up to date with the big picture. As the build was ongoing, changes had to be done by choice and ones which were forced upon us. Again, nothing was done without our consent and full explanation was given. The building work did overrun by a couple of weeks which wasn’t a problem . The team spent the time, getting the finishing right first time which was worth the overrun , so a big thank you for that. To that end, the finished loft conversion exceeded our expectations. The little finishing touches which the team did, made all the difference. I would highly recommend Alan and his team for any work you may need.

Alan's team started on the agreed day and completed on time. The team working on site were always professional, completing each stage of the roof replacement and removing any waste straight away. We are very pleased with the work done and with the end result. A very positive outcome after being let down by many other tradesmen who came to quote and didn't. Thank you, Alan and Team

Excellent workmanship and prompt completion. Mouldy insulation removed with great care, double bagged and attic vacuumed to my wife's relief (she is mould sensitive). New wool insulation and floor laid, roof and sides vented, loft ladder installed. Any changes to original plans were accommodated. We had excellent communication with Alan and his team throughout. A minor snag discovered after completion was discovered. I emailed Alan not realising he had gone away on holiday but he replied immediately and his foreman, John, came around the next day and fixed the problem in no time. We have already recommended Alan Whyte to a friend needing loft flooring. Cost of all work was very reasonable. Completely satisfied customer.

Alan Whyte put together a fixed price very quickly, and commenced on the agreed date. The job went well and I am happy with the result, although there were a couple of things that could have been better finished. Overall I consider I got a fair job for a fair price.

Alan and his team did great job in transforming my home. The work involved was a very complicated loft conversion, as well as a kitchen and front extension. The workmanship was fantastic, and they work great as a team. I was so pleased to have found a loyal and hardworking company that I can rely on for any future renovations.
