Nice bloke very friendly Shaun did a first class job, efficiently. He outlining exactly what he would do and the bits I could do to minimise costs. Being new to the area of North Devon it's often difficult to who to employ for your building work so I erred on the side of caution when it came to a large driveway extension job and started off by putting out to tender a smaller job of building a new retaining wall. Matt provided an excellent before, during and after service. His quote was clear and concise and professionally delivered and although the work started a week later than originally planned once he started on the job he continued on it to its completion. I was now confident enough to now offer him the rest of the work involving the widening of our driveway. Matt was happy for me to be involved with the build at all the various stages and listened patiently to my ideas, offering his expertise, experience and advise along the way. It's not often you find that tradesmen willing to lend this amount of cooperation but having spent a lifetime of preferring to perform my own DIY I wanted someone I felt wouldn't mind me occasionally mucking in and someone who was not averse to being flexible to my evolving ideas on how I wanted the final look. When it came to the real labour intensive work he brought in his team of helpers who he's had working for him a long time. They were equally considerate, conscientious and a pleasure to be around. Josh and Team provided building services for the remodeling & extension of my house from July 2017 for 7 months. For this work Josh and team's skills included: blockwork walling with a curved wall and archway, cement rendering & internal skim and parge coating with trims, GRP roofing work including trims & rainwater, internal studwork, structural timber and erecting a steelwork, roof and wall cladding in board and cedar, installing doors and windows, digging out and casting new slabs and footings with rebar, pinning & propping walls and careful demolition, installing below ground drains & manholes and laying pavers. As an architect I am used to working with and instructing builders so I managed the other trades and had separate carpenters/ joiners & M & E trades. I really enjoyed working with JB and team on this project. JB worked to an hourly rate which included their plant and some fixings with both JB and I procuring building materials & organizing the scaffolding & waste & recycling. I found JB and his team to be honest, courteous, good with time and charging, hardworking and they had a positive go-to and hands on attitude even in bad weather. This guy Simon is absolutely brilliant. From start to finish a truly professional and well organized chap. Quotation received within a few days giving varying scenarios of what I could do to strengthen my fence for future storms. Arrived on time, re-used one of my old panels, installed 4 concrete posts+trays and 3 new panels. All debris and knackered panels and posts removed. I highly recommend this company and I wish Simon all the best for the future and if I need any further building work/fencing he will be the one to contact. I am so pleased I went with Kevin's quote to repair my chimney. I found him honest, reliable and very knowledgeable in what needed doing. I had a few quotes before making a decision and he certainly stood out as a trades person you can trust. He even took me up the scaffolding to show and reassure me of what needed doing. I am fully qualified carpenter, joiner and bricklayer. I have successfully run my own business for 18 years and always carry out work to a very high standard. I undertake all aspects of building work from a new build to fitting a door. Photographs of work can be shown on request.
Alistair completed a number of jobs for us including refitting our kitchen, removing our garage roof and replacing with a fibre glass structure, raised decking and balustrade, installation of patio doors into an old window frame, installation of window sills, curtain poles and pictures. All work was completed to a good standard and we found Alistair to be reliable and trustworthy. He had keys to our property to come and go as necessary. He is not the cheapest builder you will find but his workmanship and skill is second to none. He has tidy working practices and happily takes on extra tasks. Alex provided the most reasonable quote and kept within the budget, without cutting corners or compromising on quality. Our job had nightmare-ish access but he came up with the most cost effective plan to deal with it. When Building Control inevitably threw a couple of curve balls, it was all dealt with professionally. Alex and his team were polite, courteous (and tidied up after themselves) and had the required cracking sense of humour; my puppy certainly missed their company after they left! If you require a builder who is reliable, trustworthy, is budget-aware, has great communication skills and delivers a quality product, then Alex and his team are who you need to call.
