I own a small renovation/general maintenance company concentrating mainly on residential internals and externals and commercial fitout works. I have almost 20 years experience in the construction industry starting off as a site labourer and working my way on to Project and Construction Management. My main works would mainly cover residential refurbishment, groundworks and landscaping. On the commercial side I carry out quite a lot of general maintenance and office fitout alterations.

Great question, consumers are inundated with emails and offers whether they are about cost savings measures or sales, etc. It all becomes a blur and more challenging. If you’re introducing yourself to a potential client in person, do a little research on who they are and what they do. When you introduce yourself tell them how you were intrigued or interested in how they executed XYZ. When they finish telling you about the process , then advise what you do and how it is related and how you can help. Make the connection and show how what you know and can offer will in fact benefit them. Try not to make it like a sales pitch. Be casual about it
