Francesco tiled the bathroom in our new loft conversion in Brighton. We were in London prior to moving into the house in Brighton when the work was undertaken, and therefore it was very important to find someone who we could communicate with easily, whilst not being on site. Francesco was very helpful and easy to communicate with from the offset. We used handmade Mexican tiles, which are harder, and more time-consuming to work with than conventional tiles. We were particularly grateful for Francesco's positive can-do attitude regarding the tiles. Francesco sent us regular updates and lots of photos throughout the job, which he finished to a very high standard, and in a timely fashion. Due to the difficult nature of the tiles we had chosen, Francesco had to put in more hours than he'd anticipated, however, he did not charge us more than his original quote, and remained positive throughout. Francesco has excellent attention to detail and we're very happy with his work. We would certainly recommend Francesco!

Chris came over and seemed very professional, however, since then I know he's not. Chris quoted us a 4 weeks estimate for the works, however took 10 weeks all in all. Chris said he would have someone on site to work every day and that he wasn't doing others jobs, however days went by with no works carried out and he was really hard to reach at times. Since the jobs been completed he is now holding me ransom for extra pay for works he claims I haven't paid for which I have (and some of this work were repair jobs to damages him and his men caused). I have had 2 plumbers out since to fix leaks and both have called him a cow boy. He hasn't returned my house keys and wont give me my gas certificate (and also tried holding back the electrical certificates at one point - which I went behind his back to get). It was cash-in-had so no tax for him to pay. He is also now threatening me with legal action. The guy is a JOKE. DO NOT USE!

Was initially happy. When the pipe started leaking that I'd had fitted, versile ignored my calls and messages. I now have to keep a towel under the sink to soak up the leak.

Gordon and his team were brilliant from start to end, an absolute dream to work with. I asked them to make good and replaster 8 walls, install a dropped ceiling with lighting around the edges, replace a fireplace, ceiling rose and skirting. They got the job done so efficiently and to a very high standard, making sure that I was totally happy with everything and going the extra mile to ensure everything was done perfectly. They sorted out an electrician to work alongside them who also did a great job and I’m thrilled with the final result. At the end of each day, the team cleaned up and left the flat spotless too. Would highly recommend!

Richard was contracted to remove an old kitchen and fit a new kitchen of a completely different design. He carried out the work very efficiently, speedily and professionally and we are delighted with the result. When any unforeseen hitches or queries arose he had the knowledge to solve them, however he consulted with us first to check we were in agreement with his solution. He started work extremely promptly each day, was never late or took time out for other jobs which so many builders do. He worked tirelessly each day and carried out a number of other unrelated jobs e.g. replacing an electric shower, stopping leaks on the toilet and mains stopcock, and re-hanging old doors as well as hanging new replacement doors. We highly recommend Richard, his workmanship is of a very high standard, he is completely reliable and trustworthy.

I am very satisfied with the renovation work carried out by Shirspeare Ltd on my property in 2015/2016. The whole experience was positive, from the initial quotes and detailed responses to questions from our side which were provided promptly. Communications were excellent, and Rob and Jamie were very accessible and flexible regarding the timing for site visits and meetings, which was appreciated. As the project evolved, and some things changed, we able to discuss this at every stage, with no surprises. The quality of the work carried out was very good in addition to the pricing being well-balanced, with cost-effective and creative solutions suggested in many cases to give a very satisfactory end-result. I live outside the UK, so it was important to find a reliable company to carry out this work at a distance, and I was not disappointed. I would not hesitate to use Shirspeare again, and it has been a pleasure to work with Rob and Jamie and the team.
