Fencing- 9 Sep 2026
Originally they were only meant to do the fencing in our back garden. Our shed had to be pulled down and we were let down by two other companies. So got in touch with Luna Oak and Asa the friendly young chap said that he and his friend Harvey would do it for us and then do the fencing after. So that is how it happened. We had a couple of other fence panels that needed replacing so they did those too. Asa and Harvey did a fantastic job on both the demolition and fencing. Both were very friendly and professional and cleaned up after each visit making it clean and tidy. Mum and I are keeping them on as Asa is a painter and decorator so we are having a quote done for a bedroom to be decorated in the near future. I can highly recommend Luna Oak to anyone that needs work doing you will not be disappointed.

George and his team renovated my 3 bedroom semi detached house,When we took it on it had very bad walls electrics and plumbing were very old and was in need of a complete refit. I knew George and his team were the people for the job. He is very easy to deal with has a great work ethic and is very approachable. He is very detailed and will go out of his way to help and make things cost effective for the customer. The team are very friendly and Neil who is the project manager is a lovely guy and put our minds at rest when we had the renovations carried out and reassured us our house was better than described. George created plans for my house for where the electrics and plumbing would be situated which included location of new central heating, heaters where the electrics would be going and where I wanted the sockets lighting etc. My house has been fully refurbished with new plaster skimming where applicable and repairs to plaster work that was in very poor condition. George's team also installed a new kitchen for me and his contractors installed a bath room suite and cloak room WC suit for me too. I also had new windows and doors too. Along the way George pointed out a few recommendations that the property could do with whilst we had the ceilings down to strengthen the structure which I was most appreciative of. George and the team are a safe pair of hands and I would recommend them in a heart beat and they also sorted any niggles we had after the project.

Questions to ask a fencer in Buckfastleigh

Before making the final decision to hire the right fencer in Buckfastleigh, you want to be sure you choose the most suitable tradesperson for your requirements. Asking a few key questions will make sure you do just that. Understand fencer’s experience and approach by asking these questions:

Do you provide a written quote that includes all materials and labour?

Always request a detailed written quote before any work begins, and be sure you know what it includes - typically, it will cover labour, materials (including posts, panels, fixings, and concrete), and sometimes waste disposal. A clear quote helps avoid unexpected costs later.

What materials do you recommend for my garden fence?

The right fencing contractor in Buckfastleigh will consider your garden’s layout, soil type, and exposure to wind or moisture before suggesting materials like timber, composite, or metal. Their advice can help you choose the most durable and cost-effective option.

Will you handle old fence removal and site cleanup?

Check if waste removal is included in the quote, or will be charged at an extra cost. Many fencers offer this as part of the service, but it’s always best to confirm before work starts.

How long will the fencing work take to complete?

Timeframes can vary depending on weather, access, and the length of fencing. Asking this upfront helps you plan ahead, especially if you need the job completed before a specific date.

Do you hold public liability insurance?

Make sure your fencing contractor holds public liability insurance. This protects both you and them in case of accidental damage or injury during the job.

Do you offer a guarantee on your fencing work?

Professional fencers in Buckfastleigh typically offer a guarantee covering workmanship and materials. Confirm the length and terms of the warranty to ensure peace of mind once the job is complete.

Frequently asked questions about fencing in Buckfastleigh

Do I need planning permission to install a new fence when hiring fencers in Buckfastleigh?

Most garden fences don’t require planning permission if they’re under 2 metres high (around 6.5 feet), but this may vary if your home is listed or located in a conservation area. Always check with your local authority before work begins.

Do fencers in Buckfastleigh remove old fencing?

Yes, many fencing contractors in Buckfastleigh include removal and disposal of old panels and posts in their service, but always check this is covered in your written quote to avoid extra charges.

Do Buckfastleigh fencing contractors provide the fencing materials, or does the customer need to source them?

This depends on the fencer. Some fence fitters in Buckfastleigh prefer to supply all materials to guarantee quality and fit, while others are happy to install fencing that you’ve purchased yourself. Always confirm before work begins.

How long does it take fencers in Buckfastleigh to install a new fence?

A typical domestic fencing job takes 1 to 3 days, depending on the length, material, and condition of the ground. More complex or sloped gardens may take longer.

Can a fencer in Buckfastleigh repair part of a fence instead of replacing it all?

Yes, fencers in Buckfastleigh can typically replace damaged panels, posts, or sections without needing to redo the entire fence. They’ll inspect the structure first to determine whether repair or replacement is more cost-effective.
