Kel and his team worked on my single storey extension with bifold doors and glass roof. He also did some landscaping in my garden, replacing the fencing and installing a raised patio with cedar battens to the side. Overall I was very pleased with the work Kel did. He is a good communicator and frequently visited the site to keep on top of the work. Kel was happy to discuss requests and was flexible with design changes. The bulk of the work was completed on time with just some minor snags remaining, but the finish is excellent. It's been a long and stressful journey, but it's been easier with the friendly support and professional approach Kel has taken to his job. I'd be happy to recommend Craft of London and provide a reference on request.

I recently hired AK construction to build an extension on my home, and I am beyond impressed with their work ethic, flexibility, and outstanding customer service. The extension was built to the highest standard—flawless craftsmanship, attention to detail, and seamless integration with my existing home. The team was punctual, tidy, and respectful throughout the project. What really stood out was their willingness to help, even beyond the contracted work. When I had some DIY tasks, they offered advice, lent me tools, and even stepped in to assist where they could—despite not being obligated to do so. Their kindness and professionalism didn’t waver, even when I declined additional quotes for other work. They stuck to the timeline and budget with no surprises. Communication was excellent, and they treated my home with care as if it were their own. I can’t recommend Ali and AK Construction enough—they’re trustworthy, skilled, and genuinely care about their clients.

What can I say about Steve and his team. Being an ex builder and coming off a not so great experience of a loft extension was cautious in who we chose for our Kitchen extension. I chose SK Builders and their approach to our job was first class and we always had a say in how the job progressed. We had complete trust in Steve and he paid us back in spades. They worked bloody hard in the heat of last summer, always here and slogged their guts out. The work was to an excellent standard and everything was completed, ordered on time. Steve worked around our issues and helped us enormously when it came to the knock through and setting up the kitchen area for us. His team of electricians, carpenters, Paul the plumber and Simon the plasterer were first rate. And all lovely guys. Our job was outstanding and Steve and his team were thoughtful and respectful to our needs. Would easily recommend and have recommended Steve to many people asking who we used. Honestly we could not be happier with the job, which had no major issues at all. It flowed like clockwork. All and all SK Builders should be considered if you are thinking of taking this kind of project, you will not be disappointed with the results.

Argon is a very nice and helpful person, he has converted our 3 bedroom fire damaged bungalow into a 6 six bedroom, loft coveted bungalow. What he gave us in the end was definitely a 5 star building but the journey was stressful, some of his sub contracts left a lot to be desired Would I use him again? A BIG YES But I would definitely Spec the job better down to the last screw and get him to price it all as we did have some disagreements over what was in or out of the quote and be on site more to push it on and so as we did not run over the date given for completion These are most of the reasons I have given 4 not 5 stars At one point he did admit this was the biggest project he had ever undertaken, so you can understand not getting a perfect 5 the first time But I say again the bungalow finished up as a 5 star It was the journey that let it down slightly Thank you again Argon for all the help before, though and after the project

Alban completed a lateral kitchen extension for me in west London. Very happy with the results and to add my name to others that have given 100% positive feedback. What I particularly liked - (1) Alban took great care to protect the rest of my house while working (protection, covers etc), (2) his team were friendly and polite to neighbours. Building works are always noisy and disruptive, they kept others 'on side' and (3) they worked to the timing and schedule agreed (4) they cleaned up, every single day (5) they worked to a high standard and corrected for any issues, despite my inevitable last minute changes. Wish him and team best success... happy to recommend. Rob

I could not recommend these guys highly enough. The job was completed to a top standard and in good time. They took care to prepare properly for the job by keeping an eye on my design process, then fit a full new kitchen to a high standard. They were very communicative throughout and were able to adapt to late changes in my plans. I would use them again without a doubt and would recommend them for any job.

I Hired Em to do my ground floor reno, which included a garage conversion and remodel of my kitchen where 2 internal walls were removed. Very glad I found Em to do the job. Him and his team was efficient, friendly, tidy and hard working. We encountered obstacles along the process (which is normal for any renovation) but Em gave his opinion, listened and we came to the best solutions. Very happy with the result. Em is a reliable, punctual, knowledgeable, fair, down to earth guy and one of the best if not the best contractor I have hired. Highly recommend. Some before and after pictures.

What to ask a Merton extension builder before hiring?

Before hiring an extension builder in Merton or extension building company in Merton, ask a few key questions to make sure you’re choosing the right professional for your home extension project.

What qualifications and experience do you have as an extension builder in Merton?

An extension builder in Merton should have a strong track record with similar projects and relevant building qualifications or trade memberships, such as the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) or TrustMark.

Will my home extension meet all building regulations and planning requirements?

Your Merton extension builder should ensure the project complies with Building Regulations and, where necessary, handle or assist with planning permissions. Ask how they manage building control inspections and what documentation you’ll receive once the project is complete.

What experience do you have with similar extensions in Merton?

Ask to see examples of their previous work, or view examples of their work on MyBuilder. Ideally projects similar to yours in scale and design. This helps you assess the Merton extension builder’s ability to deliver a result that meets your expectations.

How long will the extension take to complete?

Extension project timelines can vary depending on size, complexity, and weather. A typical single-storey extension might take around 8 - 12 weeks. Request a detailed schedule so you know what to expect and when key milestones will be reached.

Do you offer a guarantee for your work? Most Merton extension builders offer a guarantee or warranty on their work, often between 1 and 10 years depending on the project and materials used. This gives you assurance that any issues will be resolved after completion.

If you still have questions about the professional you are looking to hire, we have a full detailed guide on hiring the right builder here.
