From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. Tim managed my project effectively from start to finish, even going above and beyond to check Dunster house products delivered for quality, to which the products were extremely poor, and he ended up having to build the garden room from scratch. Tim and his team demonstrated incredible attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the project was executed to the highest standard. They had great experience, skills and knowledge of what they were doing. They listened to my vision and brought it to life beyond my expectations. Tim was lovely and polite and always endeavoured to stay true to his words. If there were any changes in plans, he communicated well and kept me informed. The team were punctual and respectful of my property. Get in touchWe hired Joe for groundworks, block paving, patio tiling and some steps. We agreed a payment schedule for the job which would take about 4 weeks and cost around £9000. Things began well but when the work fell behind the weekly payments I informed Joe I would wait until the work had caught up before I made the next payment - we had paid about 2/3 of the money while only about 1/2 of the work had been done. Joe began sending long messages and angry phone calls demanding payment. We had also agreed a 15% retention to be paid only once all work had been completed to our satisfaction. Joe demanded that all his money was paid, including the retention even before the work had been finished. His aggressive behaviour, treating us with suspicion, making false accusations and shouting at me was so stressful that I ended up paying him almost all the money even though the job had not been finished. For the early part of the build he was helpful and wanted to do a good job. He promised much and we trusted him with everything. When he went over the deadline he started to cut corners and build 'off plan’ in order to save money and try and finish. Suddenly, the day after we had parted with most of the final payment; he took his men off site without warning and abandoned us. We had to carry on renting as the house was unliveable. Three months later we have had to move into our unfinished home which is deemed “unsafe“ due to the mistakes that have been made. Multiple roof leaks, damaging the interior, creating damp and mould problems. Unfinished roof, drainage. Sewage smells in the house due to an unvented toilet system.2 metre deep/2 metre wide hole at the back of the house full of water, unfenced and uncovered. Building control have asked for his structural calculations where he did not build to architect's plans. We have requested many times that he come back, rectify/finish the work and provide the structural engineer's calculations. He refuses, so no other option but to use other builders and to sue Andy for damages. Such a sad and disastrous end to our dream. My self and my colleague Joe have collective experience of 40+ years in Bricklaying works between construction sites, domestic properties and the railway. Our recent projects have ranged mainly from garden walls, footings (block and brick work up to Damp Course Height) and repairs to arches, bridges and railway structures. We’ve previously worked and are able to work all over the Kent area. No job is too small for us, we’re able to carry out works in repointing, small repairs, garden walls, extensions and footings. If you want someone that takes pride in their work, finishes their work to a high standard and leaves your site/home as if we’d never been there, we’re the right people to call!
