I recently hired Louis to build a new fence outside my home, and I couldn’t be more delighted with the results. From the moment he arrived, he was the epitome of professionalism—punctual, polite, and incredibly courteous. The quality of the brickwork is outstanding. Each brick is perfectly placed, the lines are crisp, and the finish is flawless. It’s clear Louis takes great pride in his craft, and his attention to detail is second to none. The fence has genuinely transformed the exterior of my house and added a real touch of elegance. Beyond the technical skills, Louis was a pleasure to have around—well mannered, respectful, and always happy to answer questions. He kept the area tidy, worked diligently, and made sure I was satisfied every step of the way. Highly recommended for anyone looking for top-notch bricklaying with a friendly face and a professional attitude. I’ll definitely be calling on Louis again for future projects!

Top notch builders! We used Future Home Construction to build our large wrapround extension. They are a reliable family-owned company who showed up on time, worked hard, sometimes working 6 days a week including Bank Holidays. The team worked with great care and professionalism and were very informative, walking me through the process and offering me solutions to problems. We have been very impressed with the high standard of work carried out on our house and are delighted with the result. We would recommend Future Home Construction to anyone considering having work done to their house.

I did my due diligence on Vullcan, but things went downhill. After a week i got a pre-tax invoice for £3000 for a more "complex" drainage system which was already completed, this was the start of them trying to get around contract items and look for every way possible to charge extra fees which i can’t go through in the word limit here. When that dint work they refused to do the work. e.g. they literally installed a tempered glass sheet, with liquid glue on my roof and stated to me that this was a "roof window". I had to show them buildings regulations that this was unacceptable and illegal especially when our contract said it has to be a VELUX ROOF WINDOW! Promised a 6-8 week completion, this is 9 months later. I had now paid about 90% of the original bill and 100% of additional costs. The final payment was due after completion and a 2 week snagging period. But the demand for payments started, with threats to sue. This was laughable as they hadn't completed the job. •The roof was leaking •Electrical issues with the fuse box and multiple light /electrical points •Outstanding items •The buildings controls company stated they would not be able to sign off on the building work because of outstanding issues, which I wouldn’t have even known as they lied stating they HAD the certificate. I agreed to send a FULL payment to an escrow company and pay HALF of the costs so they can complete and fix safety issues but they refused! Shameful experience.

We had the best experience with Paul and team from the beginning and would 100% recommend him for any job. From the beginning the communication was great, he gave a quote and then didn't chase us for an answer as there was a couple months in between before we confirmed. Once confirmed, he booked a date in. Tim and James turned up at 7.45am every morning, lovely guys who got on with the job and were always polite and friendly. They were also extremely clean and tied up everything as it was before they left. So happy with the finished job and definitely use again for any further work. Thanks Paul, Tim and James!

Bathroom Fitting- 20 Sep 2017
We hired Luca for a job that involved a variety of work across our entire flat. Being totally new to renovation work and having been stung by other builders, meeting Luca was a breath of fresh air – he was friendly, helpful and honest. Luca did an great job for a very reasonable price. He’s fairly new to contracting bigger jobs, but he’s got a lot of previous experience as a tradesman and his plastering in particular was perfect – we’ve had loads of compliments on the quality of his walls and ceilings. He was always on time, always communicated with us fully, and was a pleasure to have around the flat. He made a real effort to keep disruption as minimal as possible and was very patient with us about stuff needing to be moved from one place to another. It wasn’t the easiest job and there were a couple of problems and extras, but Luca takes a lot of pride in his trade and worked extremely hard to keep us happy. We had a couple of plumbing issues arise but he went well above and beyond to resolve them, coming back for 2 days after the job was due to be finished to make sure that everything was working properly. This is far more than we expected, and we did really trust that Luca wasn’t the sort of person that would leave anything unfinished. We’re so chuffed that we met Luca and with the excellent work he did, and would love to work with him again. Luca is going to go on to big things, so if you get the chance to hire him now, we'd recommend him without hesitation.

What to ask a Barbican extension builder before hiring?

Before hiring an extension builder in Barbican or extension building company in Barbican, ask a few key questions to make sure you’re choosing the right professional for your home extension project.

What qualifications and experience do you have as an extension builder in Barbican?

An extension builder in Barbican should have a strong track record with similar projects and relevant building qualifications or trade memberships, such as the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) or TrustMark.

Will my home extension meet all building regulations and planning requirements?

Your Barbican extension builder should ensure the project complies with Building Regulations and, where necessary, handle or assist with planning permissions. Ask how they manage building control inspections and what documentation you’ll receive once the project is complete.

What experience do you have with similar extensions in Barbican?

Ask to see examples of their previous work, or view examples of their work on MyBuilder. Ideally projects similar to yours in scale and design. This helps you assess the Barbican extension builder’s ability to deliver a result that meets your expectations.

How long will the extension take to complete?

Extension project timelines can vary depending on size, complexity, and weather. A typical single-storey extension might take around 8 - 12 weeks. Request a detailed schedule so you know what to expect and when key milestones will be reached.

Do you offer a guarantee for your work? Most Barbican extension builders offer a guarantee or warranty on their work, often between 1 and 10 years depending on the project and materials used. This gives you assurance that any issues will be resolved after completion.

If you still have questions about the professional you are looking to hire, we have a full detailed guide on hiring the right builder here.
