He quickly understood what was wanted and he kindly brought samples of different bricks to the house in advance. He and his two (very nice) workmen built a beautiful retaining wall in the garden, having dug out quite a large amount of soil and crumbling sleepers. The mess was disposed of quickly in a skip and they were immaculate in their clearing up. The homeowner wants further work doing and would be happy to employ Brian again. His price was neither cheap nor outrageous and his work (and the team's) was top quality. He is a very experienced builder who was very happy to listen to exactly what the homeowner had in mind. The homeowner is disabled and needed someone trustworthy so was glad to have found Brian.
Really pleased with the work. Despite the weather hindering progress, dates were rearranged to get the work completed (the level of rain/wet could not be forseen). Communication was great and the team were polite, hard working and left the area tidy. Also documentation required for council readily available.

There was also a large tree which needed trimming back before this work could begin, and Joe arranged for this to be done by a contact of his. Joe and the boys were very pleasant and polite. They arrived early each morning and worked extremely hard all the time they were there. They went to a great deal of trouble to clear up after themselves when they had finished, and actually left things tidier that when they arrived! They finished the job in three days, as they told me they would, and for a very competitive price. I would certainly use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Rating: 3.7 out of 5 3.753 reviewsWhen John came out to quote I thought I had a good tradesman although I was a little concerned that he wouldn't be around on the job but would send his lads. I accepted the quote on the understanding the job would start within 6 weeks. It started after 8 weeks. Day one had the main part of the pergola up and cutting 10 x 8 turf up in readiness for a shed base. I was not impressed by the work rate of the 2 main lads, one sitting on my lounger for over an hour on his phone while he waited for a 3rd lad (2 hrs) to return with a forgotten wheelbarrow and fuel for his cutting equipment. A fourth lad arrived for 45 mins of wheelbarrowing midst lots of 'f' word banter. After they left I looked at the pergola which didn't look quite right and discovered one of the rafters 4 inches out. I spoke to John before they started out the next morning and suggested he may want to come out to review. He didn't offer to come out, did not offer any apology on his lads behalf but bemoaned the fact that that would need another 2x 9foot timbers. When the team arrived the pergola lad did apologise and said he'd correct his mistake. I asked which of the timber was going to be used and was shown lengths which had heavy black print the whole length and width of it which I said was not suitable for a high visibility garden structure. At this point John told the team to pull down the pergola and return to the yard. After they'd gone I found remnants of smashed pot they'd broken and hidden.
