I was taken in by a cowboy. So disappointed. I needed a soakaway. Matt didn't do written, itemised quotes. After 1 day's work he said he needed more money for extra work (hadn't surveyed properly) including hiring a concrete drill to get through the footings next to the house wall (he assured me this was fine). He wanted cash for some of the work (I didn't do this). The job wasn't finished properly. I couldn't be there to supervise as the dates originally agreed were changed. My original steps were damaged during the work and not replaced. I now have a muddy slope up to the lawn - a hazard and I can't easily get up there. All the clay soil and stones from the dug out pit were thrown all over my precious flower beds, burying and damaging plants and shrubs. Some won't recover - a total mess. When I spoke to Matt he said he didn't know that I didn't want that! (Saved cost of proper disposal). A load of rubble was thrown behind the summerhouse out of sight, and one of the other workers was blamed for this. I asked Matt to come back to rectify the damage, although I had done my best to clear most of the soil and stones from the garden (I'm in my mid 60's and not in the best of health). We arranged dates for him to return four times - no one turned up and I had to contact Matt to find out what was going on - always excuses. 8 weeks after the original date agreed my garden is still a mess. I wish I could attach photos. I now have to pay someone else to put it all right.
