Firstly I need to say that Jamie did a good joinery job rebuilding the front porch and was helpful with that, so I would be happy to recommend him for joinery work. However, he also assured me he could do the felting work on the porch roof, and it was a disaster. It leaked within 7 days at the first rain, through the felting onto the wood and down onto the porch. He repaired it. It leaked again. The water pooled on the roof and didn't go down the drainpipe. He said the felting was faulty and he would get the manufacturers to look at it and he would redo the whole roof. I lost confidence and asked proper roofers to check it. There were basic errors - no primer under the felt, the border against the wall not attached, nails in the felting, only one layer not 3. I was worried about how wet the wood was getting under the felting and so asked a roofer to redo it properly. I emailed Jamie to ask for reimbursement for the roofer's costs, but haven't received a reply. Fingers crossed, he seems a decent person but should really have acknowledged that felting is not something he can do.
