Glad we didn't hire him. After agreeing on a price for loft conversion and back extension, Mr Rattan kept increasing the price by referring to minor things. Like charging extra for plate that goes on steel. First day when he turned up, he demanded that owner should provide tea and snack for his labour every day. Also he was not ready to include the agreed price on the contract (as he was sub contracting the job to someone else). Glad we cancelled him and hired another builder in his place. I have evidence of all communication I had with him, incase anyone wants it. I would avoid him at all cost.

Shariff is not in fact a carpenter. He has next to no experience (other than jobs for family). He needs constant supervision and even then he doesn’t listen to a word you say. It is genuinely shocking the state he has left my garden in. I hired him to replace a very basic roof for a lean to in my garden. It consists of making a square frame out of 4 pieces of wood with two bars of wood in the middle. Attaching it to the wall and a pre made fence panel. He was provided with all the materials. I had bought excess for other projects. He makes so many mistakes. He didn’t measure accurately, so he cut the wood too short, therefore there is a 10cm gap at the back of the roof letting water in. He cobbled together wood along the back he’d also cut too short. He attached a piece of rotten timber to the wall that had been torn down from the old roof which has two long rusty screws sticking out of it at eye level (did not think to remove these) even though he has plenty of timber.
