What type of carpentry and joinery experience do you have in Cardiff?

Ask about their background with local projects. Carpenters in Cardiff often share photos of similar carpentry services they've completed nearby on MyBuilder.

What qualifications do you have as a carpenter or joiner in Cardiff?

Look for NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in carpentry/joinery, plus hands-on experience with Cardiff's Edwardian homes, coastal timber repairs, or modern eco-builds in Llandaff.

What woods and finishes suit Cardiff properties?

For terraced houses in Grangetown or period homes in Pontcanna, Cardiff carpenters recommend durable oak, Welsh-grown pine, or larch with oiled, waxed, or painted finishes to blend maritime resilience and traditional Welsh styles.

Are you aware of Cardiff's listed building regulations?

Check the carpenter’s knowledge of Cadw guidelines for conservation areas like Cathays or Llandaff, where carpenters must use sympathetic repairs on Victorian sashes or listed timber frames to avoid planning issues.

Ask about their experience with traditional Welsh pegged joints or mouldings for Edwardian homes in Pontcanna, ensuring they match local period features like panelled doors or skirtings.
