Conversions - General- 7 Apr 2016
We hired Chris for our garage conversion, extension into car port and new kitchen. We chose Chris because of his friendly and positive outlook on the work, nothing seemed to be a problem and he was good value. The work took a little longer than planned but this was due to some unforseen circumstances. The job however has been completed to an EXCELLENT standard. Compared to some of the other builders we have had who are grumpy and rude, Chris and his tradesmen were fantastic and we always felt comfortable with them being in the house no matter if we were in or not. Giedrius was engaged to fit several new internal doors and door furniture. He was very friendly and helpful, punctual and tidy. The doors were very large but he managed them on his own and with the use of a range of equipment to support the doors while they were fixed. His work is very skilled and accurate. We were delighted with Giedrius and will ask him back to fit our skirting and architraves.

Not great from start to finish, late arriving! Due to COVID I kept my distance and let Jacob to get on with his work. Jacob took his money and left promptly, I was left with 3 fire doors without internal closures as he had no idea how to put them back without a small tool (you would think a professional carpenter would hold onto tools for this situation), a google search gave an easy fix even without the tool he mentioned. After Jacob left I noticed that he had cut the top off one of the doors when it should have been the bottom to accommodate my new carpet. I contacted him and he lied and said it was still safe fire door, despite the fact that the gap was so big I could wave my hand between it. Eventually he agreed to come back and repair his mistake! He put a filet on the damaged door but not the internal closures back, despite the fact I had mentioned I had purchased the tool he needed and he told me to look it up on YouTube to fix it myself. (I have a spinal condition and awaiting surgery, not able to DIY right now). My main door to the property was also cut too high and will have a massive impact on my electrical bills. The cheek of it all was, when he came back to fix one of the doors he looked and waited for me to give him more money, I politely asked him to leave. I will never again contract him for work and you would be wise not to.
