I would not hesitate to recommend John. His communication was great from start to finish - from quote and arrival time to letting me know the progress as he went along. His quality of work was very good. John made sure that the original joists were strengthened sufficiently and existing services were in the correct position to make sure that the new floor boards could be secured firmly. The finished product is a firm, squeakless floor and happy customers. Thank you John.

A good, solid, efficient job. The only (small) whinge that I have is that rather than countersinking and filling the screws used for affixing the stair rail to the wall he left them exposed (albeit with a coating of paint over them).

After those 4 years I decided to become a sole trader. Since then I’ve worked in all kinds of joinery/fitting jobs and gained a wide range of experience. George came & assessed the job, quoted a price. I accepted & we arranged a date for the work. He came on day 1 & fitted all the 10 doors. Next day he fitted all the door handles. Despite his supplier giving him the wrong handle for the bathroom he quickly got an alternative from a local place. George was polite, friendly, efficient & reliable as well as an excellent carpenter. A pleasure to have in my house. Very good with my 4 yr old granddaughter. I would recommend him to do any carpentry work to a high standard.

Pleasant gentleman and arrived promptly. Alarm bells started ringing when he told me he didn't have his own dust sheets to protect the carpet, I had to provide my own. When fitting the loft ladder I felt like I had to keep an eye on what he was doing. When it was initially fitted I had to point out that it wasn't flush with the ceiling so the architrave would not be able to be fitted flush. He agreed and readjusted it. Another thing that surprised me was when he used expanding foam to fill gaps, which was fine, but he was wiping the excess foam with his hand!! Anyone who's used expanding foam knows you never touch it with your hand because it's a nightmare to clean. He then tried to wash his hands with soapy water in the bathroom and got expanding foam on the soap dispenser which is still sticky. I don't think he had used expanding foam before. Then was told his nail gun was apparently being repaired so he returned a couple days later to fit the architrave around the loft ladder. The nails were left sticking out of the architrave and some of the architrave pieces were not secure, the nails were attached to nothing. He agreed it wasn't a great job and said he would return with a new piece of architrave and redo it. He never returned. Overall, he's cheap but I wouldn't use him again.
