Identified cause of damp connected to roof. Sealed the flashing and fixed the ridge as hired. They had a good attitude and charged fairly when a section of the roof structure needed replacing, making the initial job bigger. Good communication and friendly. After contacting a number of builders with a view to putting in some new steps acceptable to Planning restrictions, Martin was the only one who actually turned up and was enthusiastic about doing it. He was very professional and explained what he would be doing and I found him easy to talk with . He did the job over two days and it looks great. He told me he had spoken with Planning and had followed their guidelines so I am not expecting any problem. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS TRADESMAN. The gentleman was very pleasant and appeared to be able to offer us the service that we required which was to demolish two small walls, build a small wall and slab a patio area. Following agreement about price he advised that he could only work at weekends which appeared to be ok. He completed the knocking down of the walls and the building of the small wall over two weekends and then on the third weekend we were unable to be present on the job due to a planned holiday and he proceeded to lay almost all of the patio but on our return we found every slab was rocking and he agreed that it was a mess and proceeded to lift and relay all slabs on the fourth weekend. The following weekend he advised he was not going to be available as he was going on holiday and we gave him £2000 in cash on the understanding that he would return and finish the slabbing and the rest of the job. The following weekend he did not come and we asked him when the job would be completed, he agreed to come the following Friday. We asked him to confirm if we needed more products and he text a list of products required which we purchased and had delivered on the Thursday. Friday arrived and we received a text to say he was not coming back to finish the job. We have now had to instruct another contractor at further expense to relay all slabs and complete the outstanding work.
