I am Matteo Scarpellini, an architectural designer with a deep passion for parametric design and sustainability, which was a central focus of my dissertation for the March RIBA Part 2 qualification at the University of East London. I am excited about the opportunity to work in the UK again, especially after having returned to Italy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past two years, I have worked in Italy as a qualified "Junior Architect," developing a range of public and private projects. I moved back to UK, where I am eligible to work, eager to pursue my Part 3 qualification and advance my career. In my 3 years working experience I have developed a strong ability to fast adapt to new building regulations in various locations like Italy, USA, and Dubai, and now I am ready for an experience in UK. I am partner architect at SIMBIOSI ARCHITECTS in London, with an extensive experience in residential projects. I have a Bachelors (BArch) and a Masters (MArch) in Architecture. I now have 8 years of experience working self employed on architectural design projects in the domestic sector, working with private clients or directly for contractors. This experience has involved various local authority planning applications, prior approval planning applications, permitted development design compliance, certification of lawful development applications, building control applications with the local authority and also with approved private building control officers. I have over 15 years of hands-on construction experience, building my first home and renovation many more since, from new builds to rear, side and loft extensions. I’ve maintained my primary profession working on large scale projects ranging from £50-400m for the last 10 years, spending the last 4/5 years managing project consultant teams of up to 100 across multiple disciplines such as; structural engineers, mechanical, electrical & public health (MEP) engineers, cladding engineers, lighting designers, landscape designers, planners. Giving me a broad understanding across multiple construction trades and project stages. The above combines a wide and varied background of detailed experience to assist with most architectural design projects and to coordinate as part of a wider design team.
