Full rebuild of a Victorian mews home, including full front elevation, building an extra floor and all associated planning. Chris from Sand Architects was professional from the start, and brought really innovative ideas to the table. He doesn’t come across as your stereotypical architect, but more like talking with a friend who shares your vision. He then goes away and creates designs that are true to what you want, whilst pushing the boat out in ways you gladly take on board. He prepared plans that went through planning successfully, even with the plans going to committee. He helped me create my vision, whilst offering suggestions to both ease construction and create a home for the rest of my life. Outsourcing the process to him was the best decision I made in this project as he kept on top of it, was great with comms, and kept pushing it through planning which took that headache away from me. Needless to say, I’d recommend their services to anyone. Especially if you’re looking for something slightly quirky, but keeping within planning regulations. MOST is an architectural practice based in Lambeth, London, founded by an award winning architect Olga McMurdo ARB RIBA. MOST Architecture offer design and advice on civic, residential and commercial projects. Although we have done much larger, commercial projects (not on MyBuilder!), and won RIBA awards, we love to take on single houses too, particularly with complex planning. We have a very successful planning record, including conservation areas, listed buildings, and success at appeal.
We employed Olga to design a new rear extension, as part of a full renovation of a Victorian terrace. We wanted an extension that created as much new living space as possible, focused spend in specific areas and was different to the standard 3x3m box extension. We were nervous as we’ve never attempted anything like this before and didn’t know where to start. We chose Olga over other architects as she was a great communicator in her initial responses, she reassured us she would help us through the process as well as designing the extension, she listened to our requirements and showed real creativity when we first met. Having now worked closely with her we can confirm our initial impressions were right. She has been great. The design is beyond our initial expectations and it’s been a collaborative process where she's listened to our feedback and adjusted items accordingly. She has also helped us through each stage of the design, providing guidance on structural engineers, buildings inspectors, contractors, suppliers etc as well as navigating what was a tricky planning process. Everyone we’ve worked with has commented on the detail of her drawings and the quality of the design. The detailed schedule of works produced has made it easier to compare contractor quotes and make choices on the final design/finishes to get us closer to our budget. Fantastic service! Salvatore is brilliant and I would highly recommend him for his very thorough service - educating me at every stage and advising of what he would do (including sending detailed drawings and real-life images to show how things would look). Salvatore was substantially cheaper and 8 weeks quicker than a local architect and his professionalism was far better. I struggled to find recommended architects within our area so turned to My Builder and he came up as being interested in my job. Jason was super fast at getting back to me and clarifying needs (within minutes at times). I highly recommend his services and using him for my other jobs.
