After more than 20 years working in architectural practices, I set up my own company, Architecturelab, in 2025, providing architectural and technical design services. Architecturelab’s first project was the refurbishment of a private flat. From 2025 to September 2026, the practice was also Project Architect for the concept and schematic design stages of a major overseas development comprising a 30-storey hotel, two residential towers, a five-storey podium and underground parking, with a total built-up area of approximately 140,000 m². I am Matteo Scarpellini, an architectural designer with a deep passion for parametric design and sustainability, which was a central focus of my dissertation for the March RIBA Part 2 qualification at the University of East London. I am excited about the opportunity to work in the UK again, especially after having returned to Italy due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past two years, I have worked in Italy as a qualified "Junior Architect," developing a range of public and private projects. I moved back to UK, where I am eligible to work, eager to pursue my Part 3 qualification and advance my career. In my 3 years working experience I have developed a strong ability to fast adapt to new building regulations in various locations like Italy, USA, and Dubai, and now I am ready for an experience in UK. After completing my Part 1 in Architecture 10 years ago, I gained extensive hands-on experience in both design and construction. I began my career at London Heritage Properties Ltd, where I was involved in every stage of development—from sourcing properties and designing schemes to submitting planning applications and managing projects.
