What to ask a window fitter in London before hiring?

Before you commit to a contract with a local London window fitter, be sure to have a more detailed hiring conversation and ask questions like these:

How long have you been working as a window fitter in London, and what qualifications do you hold?

A window fitter in London should be able to outline their years of experience and highlight any industry qualifications, such as FENSA or CERTASS certification, which ensures they adhere to building regulations. These certifications show they are up-to-date with the latest window installation standards and legal requirements.

Do you offer a warranty for the windows and installation?

London window fitters should offer a warranty covering both the products and their installation. Expect at least a 10-year guarantee on the windows themselves and a 1- to 2-year warranty on the fitting. This gives you peace of mind that any issues, such as leaks or defective windows, will be addressed without extra cost.

What type of windows do you specialise in?

It’s important to know if the London window fitter has experience with the type of windows you’re installing, whether that’s uPVC, aluminium, timber, or sash windows. A professional specialising in your desired window type will be better suited to its installation and ensure the windows meet your needs for aesthetics, energy efficiency, and durability.

What is your estimated timeline for installation?

Expect a clear timeline that includes the date of the window installation and how long the process will take. A typical window fitting in London may take anywhere from a day to several days, depending on the number of windows and the complexity of the project. This helps you plan for any disruptions or access requirements to your London home.
